Template:Worldbox World 5 is the fifth world of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. The world follows a forest-theme with poisonous water, which can be seen in every level. Bramble vines block some of the paths. They will occasionally change positions. There are eight levels in this world, two of them being castle levels that are guarded by Iggy Koopa, and one being a Ghost House.

Various Mushroom Houses are also found around here, giving the player items such as Starmans, Mushrooms, and Propeller Mushrooms. On the map, there are Stalking Piranha Plants. Mario and the gang can get attacked by and be forced to play in the Enemy Course. There are a total of three Enemy Courses in the area. Also, once Iggy has been defeated in the castle, the bramble patches will disappear completely.

Levels

World 5-1

This is the first level in World 5. It introduces the Stalking Piranha Plant and the River Piranha Plant. It contains very large Koopa Shells, all of which Mario can enter and find Star Coins. To enter the first one, Mario must ground pound some brick blocks. The second one can only be entered by swimming, and the third one (which has a whole secret room inside) requires the use of a swinging vine. While most of this level takes place on land, a portion of it is over a body of water. There are many swinging vines the player can use to travel over gaps and Stalking Piranha Plants. Fire Mario is very helpful in this level.

World 5-2

This level starts off with a number of Wigglers. The player will then progress through a green warp pipe into an underground area filled with Mega Wigglers, Swoopers and toxic purple liquid. The Wigglers are also necessary to reach some of the Star Coins.

World 5-3

This level on the map shows a log on toxic water, but in the level there is only three logs. The level is the only level where Bramballs appear. The player needs to avoid them without falling off logs or they will land into the toxic goop.

World 5 Fortress

In this fortress there are several moving platforms jutting out of spiked walls going back and forth. Mario must climb up on these platforms to reach Iggy Koopa. The last Star Coin requires Mario to break some brick blocks while avoiding the spikes in the walls.

World 5-4

This level has Mario traveling across the toxic liquid on a wooden plank. Creatures including Piranha Plants, Goombas, Koopa Troopas and Bob-ombs and even coins will land on it, causing the numbers on the plank to increase from 0 up until 5 at which it turns red and stops. To make the plank start again, the player has to remove enemies off of the plank so that there are less than five.

The first Star Coin is near the beginning of the level, on an area full of Koopas. The second one is close to the ending, in an area full of Piranha Plants. It is hiding in the clouds and can be obtained by using a POW Block. The last one is just before the pipe that takes the player to the goal. It is between some blocks that can be blown up with a Bob-omb.

World 5 Ghost House

The third Ghost House in the game. Common Ghost House enemies can be found, including Boos. There are a lot of different ways to go, but only one takes the player to the goal. It is a very dark level. It is possible to find a secret exit that will take Mario and company to the World 5 cannon. This cannon shoots Mario to World 8.

World 5-5

This level has the player jumping across the screen on the backs of giant green Jumbo Rays. For the most of this level, the player has to avoid Bullet Bills and can't touch the ground as they're in the sky. The player is also given Propeller boxes which become useful as a lot of the level is also covered in clouds.

Enemy Course

Mario and Co. start on a platform above four platforms on which the Stalking Piranha Plants walk. There are moving platforms directly over them on which the players can jump on to collect the Toad Balloons. They have to be careful, though, as the Stalking Piranha Plants can still reach them with their head when they stretch it out. All the player has to do is jump over them.

World 5 Castle

Iggy Koopa's Castle. The player has to cross lava by means of gripable grate, some of which is round and spins and some that retracts back into lava or walls. Green spells also attack from off-screen. The boss battle has Iggy with his pet Chain Chomp, which grows after being assisted by Kamek. It drags him around the room, and Iggy, who is riding in a seat attached to the Chain Chomp's chain, occasionally shoots spells. There is a platform in the middle of the rectangular stage with two Donut Lifts, and four White-Green Checkered Blocks, two on each side of the room. When Iggy is attacked, the Chain Chomp will glow red and jump in random directions. When beaten, Iggy will run away and Mario will progress to World 6.
