Whiplash Dash is the thirty-first level in Donkey Kong Land III and the first level of the Lost World.

Summary

Whiplash Dash is the second and final pipeline level, and it is one of the shortest levels. At the start, Dixie and Kiddy are forced into a toboggan from a Barrel Cannon, and must ride it to the end. As the Kongs ride through the pipe, they must avoid hitting into Buzzes. A few Krimps appear in the level, and a few Kuchukas appear in a Bonus Level. Halfway into the level, the toboggan crosses a "No Sled" sign, allowing the Kongs to briefly travel on foot. At around the Star Barrel, Dixie and Kiddy are blasted into another toboggan, which they ride until entering the next Barrel Cannon. It blasts them near the End of Level Flag and two Bonus Barrels, each appearing on separate paths.

Layout

When the Kongs begin this level, they automatically end up in a Blast Barrel. It shoots them through a chain of other barrels, and into a toboggan. Once the vehicle starts to move, the heroes need to jump over several Buzzes and other hazards. After a while, the monkeys cross a "No Sled" sign, which makes the toboggan disappear. Therefore, they can now travel through the level freely. The group need to head east and hop over a few more Buzzes. Eventually, they need to jump into another barrel and shoot to the Star Barrel.

Instantly after hitting this barrel, the Kongs land in a toboggan. They must ride in it up and down more of the dark pipeline. As they go, they have to dodge even more Buzzes, along with a Krimp, who can interfere with the Kongs if they try to grab the letter G. Once they speed down a long hill, the heroes momentarily pass another sign. It makes the toboggan disappear again. On foot, the group must then dodge two Krimps to land in a barrel. It shoots them up to a Rotatable Barrel. With it, the monkeys must blast to the left and easily hit the flagpole to end the level.

They have to defeat it with a barrel to get the DK Coin off of it. So, they must head farther east and pick up a nearby barrel. When they carry it all the way back, they need to stand in the foe's shield and throw the object at a wall around them. The barrel will bounce back, and hit the Koin, giving the monkeys the DK Coin it had.

Bonus Levels

Near the end of the level, after the second toboggan, the Kongs land into a Rotatable Barrel. Instead of blasting left to the End of Level Flag, the Kongs must blast right. By continuing right, they eventually come up to a Bonus Barrel. In the Bonus Level, the Kongs have 35 seconds to collect 9 stars while riding a toboggan. They encounter three Kuchukas along the way, each one guarding three stars. The Kongs must avoid the Kuchukas and jump over some pipes along the way. After the Kongs collect all nine stars, the Bonus Coin appears at the end.

When the Kongs see the first Bonus Barrel, they must jump over it. On the other side, they suddenly land in a hidden Blast Barrel that shoots them straight into the second Bonus Barrel. Like the first Bonus Level, the Kongs must ride another toboggan and collect stars within a time limit, more specifically 15 stars within 10 seconds. The stars are found in groups of three spread over a pipeline with a few Buzzes. After the Kongs collect every star, the Bonus Coin appears at the end.
