Ghostly Grove (Donkey Kong Country 2)
Template:LevelboxDKL2 Ghostly Grove is the twenty-third level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, a similar game for the Game Boy system. It is also the first area of Gloomy Gulch.
This level is set in an eerie forest and marks first appearance of the Ghost Ropes. Diddy and Dixie Kong need to time their jumps in order to utilize the Ghost Ropes to their advantage. They cannot hang onto them long, as the ropes might disappear before they get off, thus making them fall. Kabooms also make their debut in this level. Other enemies located in the grove include Klomps, Kloaks, Klampons, Klobbers, Krunchas, Zingers, Flitters and Spinies.

Donkey Kong Country 2
At the beginning of the level, the Kongs can find a Kloak, above themselves that throws items to them. Klomps stomp along the long and rather flat pathway ahead. A Ghost Rope is on the way down the pathway, and a DK Barrel wobbles next to it. A second Ghost Rope is above a prickly Spiny found in a small alcove. The Ghost Rope can be used to reach a higher area of land. There is a small alcove in the ground near here with a Klampon and a Spiny in it. The letter K floats above the dangerous foes. A Klobber also waits in its barrel at the edge of a cliff just ahead. An abyss is next to the Kremling enemy.
A Ghost Rope floats above it that must be used to cross, and a Banana Coin is also in the gap. On the other side of the gap, a trio of Klampon patrol the area. A wide abyss is after them with a pair of Ghost Ropes above it, and a Flitter also flies in the gap. If the Kongs cross this and reach land, they can find another Klobber and two mighty Krunchas on raised piece of land. A flat pathway with a Spiny walking along it is ahead at a slightly lower elevation with a Ghost Rope appearing and and disappearing above it. It can be climbed to reach the letter O. After passing a small gap, the heroes approach a Klobber on a platform. Another abyss follows it, but it can only be crossed with the help of a Ghost Rope. Luckily, one of these ghostly objects is present in the gap, although a Zinger is near it. A barrel and a lone Klobber can be found immediately after the pit. They are located just before a pair of Krunches, who are both found on pieces of land at different elevations. In a higher area of land ahead, another Klobber can be found. The Star Barrel is nearby immediately after a Spiny in a small alcove.
Ahead, the Kongs can find a wobbling DK Barrel in front of a Kloak, who throws Spinies at them. After tossing the enemy, the Kloak leaves, allowing the Kongs to safely progress to an abyss near its previous spot. A Ghost Rope must be used to cross. A platform with a Kaboom on it is located after this abyss. Another gap is immediately after the foe, and it is filled with Ghost Ropes, bananas, and a lone Zinger. Once it is crossed, the heroes can reach a large area of land with a Klobber and a Kaboom on it. They hide in barrels in front of a raised piece of ground. A treasure chest containing the letter N is here. After crossing a small gap that follows the two Kremling enemies, the heroes find themselves on a large area of land with two Klampons on it. A pair of Ghost Ropes are in the air above the Klaptrap-like foes, but they do not appear visible for more than a few seconds. They can be used to reach a Bonus Barrel. A wide abyss can be found farther ahead. Two Ghost Ropes placed in it can assist the duo in crossing. A Zinger stands in their way as they travel over the pit, which is followed by a a flat piece of land with two Kabooms on it. A DK Barrel is also here.
Another abyss with more Ghost Ropes in it follows the Kabooms. The heroes must climb upwards using the ropes to reach a higher platform located immediately after a stationary Zinger. Two Klampons are here that march along some stair-like piece of land. Spinies can be found soon after them under a formation of bananas. The bananas form a circle, which has the invisible letter G within it. Another large pit is ahead, but it can be crossed with the help from a trio of Ghost Ropes. A Zinger is after each of the ghostly beings. A small platform is present at the opposite side of the gap. Here, a Kloak can be found floating over another abyss. After it hurls a single barrel at the Kongs, it floats away. Five Ghost Ropes are located in the large gap that this Kloak is found above. They can aid the heroes in crossing the gap. If the two friends manage to cross, they can find the End of Level Target on a solid piece of land. If they land on it, the level is completed. If they jump on the target from the final Ghost Rope in the level, they win a prize.
Donkey Kong Land 2
The level begins on a trail with a small hill along it. A pair of Klampons walk down the pathway, and an alcove with a DK Barrel in it can be found ahead of it under a pair of Ghost Ropes. They can be used to climb to a high ledge that leads onto a straight pathway. Klomps and Klampons patrol this area, which is followed by a few small ledges that the Kongs can drop down to access a lower area, where a lone Klobber waits to attack. A Ghost Barrel is next to the first ledge with the letter K by it. A Zinger blocks the Kongs' path near the Klobber. The Kongs can find a long abyss after this wasp enemy, but it can be crossed with assistance from a pair of Ghost Ropes. A Spiny is in the area on the other side of this abyss. The porcupine crawls in front of a raised piece of land with a treasure chest, containing a Banana Coin, and a Kruncha on it, followed by a small gap that can easily be jumped across. Regardless, a Ghost Rope appears next to it to aid the heroes in crossing. Two more ledges follow here that have a couple of Klampons climbing down them. A Klobber hides in its barrel immediately after the second ledge. A large gap is just ahead of here with a few Ghost Ropes floating in it. Zingers also fly over the abyss to get in the primates' way as they climb along the ghostly ropes. A long pathway with a Klomp marching along it succeeds this area, and a DK Barrel and a Klobber are also here, being followed by a ledge that can be climbed to enter a slightly higher elevation. A hidden Ghost Rope with the letter O next to it is to the left of the ledge. A Klampon is ahead, marching in front of a raised piece of land with a Spiny and a Banana Bunch on it. After passing another Klobber and traveling down a ledge, the heroes approach a wide abyss. Several Ghost Ropes float in it that they can use to cross, but Zingers try to attack them as they progress. A Star Barrel waits on a small platform successive to this.
A small gap is ahead with a Klobber on the other side of it. Some stair-like pieces of land are located nearby with a second Klobber at the top of them. This foe is followed by a DK Barrel and a Spiny. If the heroes continue from here, they come up to a wide abyss that they must cross with the aid of more Ghost Ropes. They come up to the letter N on the way. A Kruncha stomps on the opposite end of the gap. A raised piece of land is behind it. Another small gap is farther ahead with two more Ghost Ropes in it. A Zinger is also at the beginning of the abyss. If the two friends manage to cross, they come up to a Spiny with a Klampon following right behind it. Several ledges that lead the heroes to a higher elevation are ahead with additional Klampons marching along them. An abyss is located shortly after the ledges that can be overcome with help from more Ghost Ropes. On the other side of the gap, there is a long hill with some Klomps traveling up it. The letter G is next to a ledge at the bottom of the hill. After the heroes use Ghost Ropes to cross another gap found just ahead, they land on a platform with a Klampon on it. A smaller gap follows with a DK Barrel just after it. Another small platform with a Klampon present on it is after a wide abyss located immediately after this barrel, and several Ghost Barrels must be used to cross. Afterwards, the Kongs can find a smaller abyss is after this platform, and only a single Ghost Rope must be used to cross it. A spring lies on the other side of the gap, and a Ghost Rope and a DK Coin float next to it. If the spring is bounced on, the level is completed.
Secrets
Donkey Kong Country 2
K-O-N-G Letters
- K: The letter K can be found in an alcove with a Klampon and a Spiny in it after the second Ghost Rope.
- O: Shortly after the primates pass a pair of Krunchas, they can find a Ghost Rope floating above a Spiny. The rope can be used to reach the letter O found to the right of it.
- N: After the heroes pass the Star Barrel, they approach a Klobber and a Kaboom hiding in barrels next to each other. A treasure chest is near them that must be thrown at an enemy to open. The letter N is in it.
- G: Near the end of the level, the heroes can find a group of bananas in the formation of a circle in the air. Using their Team-up move, the heroes must throw each other into the circle to collect the invisible letter G.
Bonus Levels
- Shortly before the Star Barrel, the heroes can see two Krunchas standing near each other. There is a banana by the wall next to the foe on the left, and the Kongs can break the wall open to discover the entrance to a Bonus Level. Here, they must throw a treasure chest at a red Zinger until the chest breaks and a Kremkoin drops out of it. They have 20 seconds to find and collect the coin, and they automatically fail the bonus if they touch the Zinger.
- After passing the letter N, the primates can see two Ghost Ropes appearing and disappearing at a quick speed. The heroes must climb these ropes before they disappear to reach a Bonus Barrel. It shoots them to a Bonus Level, where they must cross a large abyss by using Ghost Ropes. A Kremkoin is located on the other side of the gap, and they only have 10 seconds to collect it. The bonus ends in a failure if the Kongs fall into the pit.
DK Coin
- Around the middle of the level, the heroes can spy a Ghost Rope that they can climb up to reach the letter O. From there, Dixie Kong should be in the lead of the two Kongs and use her Helicopter Twirl to slowly lower herself down through a small gap nearby while hovering to the left. Soon, she should land in a barrel, which shoots her to the DK Coin.
Golden Feather (Game Boy Advance version only)
- Immediately before the Kongs notice the two Ghost Ropes leading to the second Bonus Level, they jump across a small abyss. Instead of going over it, they should jump through the center. They can land on a hidden hook, which the Golden Feather floats directly under.
Photograph (Game Boy Advance version only)
- At the beginning of the level, the heroes can find a Kloak hovering above them. If they defeat the foes, they are given a photograph, which adds a picture of a Kloak to the fifth page of their scrapbook.
Donkey Kong Land 2
K-O-N-G Letters
- K: The letter K is next to the third Ghost Rope found after a long trail of enemies.
- O: The Kongs climb a small ledge after the second DK Barrel. If they jump to the left from the top of the ledge, they can reach a hidden hook near a Ghost Rope that has the letter O next to it.
- N: Shortly after the Kongs pass the Star Barrel, they climb over a wide abyss using Ghost Barrels. The letter N is in this area by one of the ropes.
- G: The letter G is just before the final DK Barrel in the level near an abyss that must be crossed by using Ghost Ropes.
Bonus Level
- Shortly after the letter N, the primates have to climb up a few ledges with Klampons lurking on them. Soon, they can get to an abyss, where there is a Zinger flying up and down in between two Ghost Ropes. They should also notice a trail of bananas leading downwards into the abyss. They must follow the trail to land into a hidden Bonus Barrel, which sends them to a Bonus Level. There, they need to jump over another Zinger and begin climbing across a large abyss with the help of Ghost Ropes. When they get to the other side of the gap, they can grab the Kremkoin. They fail this bonus if they take more than 10 seconds to collect the coin, or if they touch the Zinger or fall into the pit.
DK Coin
- At the end of the level, the Kongs can find a spring that they can bounce on to complete the level. Instead of jumping on it, they should travel past it to find a hidden Ghost Rope with the DK Coin next to it.
