A red-shelled Paratroopa.

Paratroopas (also known as Parakoopas or Sky Troopas) are Koopa Troopas with wings. Hit them in the air once and they'll lose their wings.

Paratroopas were known as Sky Troopas in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. In this game, all Sky Troopas have red shells and do not lose their wings when hit. These shells give Sky Troopas a high defense rating. Additionally, Sky Troopas use their shells for offense. To attack, they hide in their shells, then ram into their opponents with massive force. In Mushroom Way, some Sky Troopas guard Treasure Boxes while others will actively pursue Mario. One Sky Troopa even kidnaps Toad.

Paper Mario Stats and Tattle Information

Regular Paratroopa

  • HP: 4
  • Attack: 1
  • Defense: 1
  • Location: Pleasant Path
  • Tattle:This is a Paratroopa. No surprise here--Paratroopas are Koopa Troopas with wings. When you jump on 'em or use a POW Block, their wings fall off and they become normal Koopa Troopas. It's easy to beat 'em once they're normal Koopa Troopas. Give 'em another Jump attack! They think they're pretty cool because they wear sunglasses, but they're not that tough.

Dark Paratroopa Stats

  • HP: 8
  • Attack: 4
  • Defense: 2
  • Location: Pit of 100 Trials (Levels 41-49)
  • Tattle Number: 11
  • Tattle Log: A Paratroopa that lives in dark, damp places. It has a very heard shell, but you can flip it over by jumping on it.
  • Tattle: This is a Dark Paratroopa. It lives in dark, damp places. It's strong, but otherwise just like other Paratroopas. It's airborne, so try to ground it first.

KP Paratroopa Stats

  • HP: 4
  • Attack: 2
  • Defense: 1
  • Location: Glitzville
  • Tattle Number: 13
  • Tattle Log: A Koopa Paratroopa who's dyed its shell. Otherwise, it's the same as any other Paratroopa, which means one stomp and it loses its wings.
  • Tattle: That's a KP Paratroopa. It's a Koopa Paratroopa of a different color. Its attacks are the same as your average, garden-variety Koopa Paratroopa. So, just do the same thing as always: stomp on it, flip it, and drop its Defense to 0. My Headbonk is pretty effective against it, too. Come on! Let's get him!

Shady Paratroopa Stats

  • HP: 8
  • Attack: 3
  • Defense: 1
  • Location: Glitzville
  • Tattle Number: 15
  • Tattle Log: Other than having wings, this creature isn't very difficult from a Shady Koopa. Once it flips off its back, it boosts its Attack.
  • Tattle: That's a Shady Paratroopa. It's a Shady Koopa with wings, obviously. Knock off its wings and it's a Shady Koopa. Unlike typical Koopas and Paratroopas, its Attack jumps when it flips up off its back. This also says it has a move that hits you and your ally at once. Is that possible? Uh... I guess the best thing to do is just beat it quickly after we flip it.
