Canoe Slalom (Pair) is a Boat Games Event that appears exclusively in the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The aim of the event is to reach the finish line in the fastest time while passing through all of the gates. The starting record for this event is 1:35.94.
Gameplay
In this event, the player chooses a team of two characters from the Girls category and competes against a team made up of the other two girls, a pair of Koopa Troopas and a pair of Chao. In this event, the characters move automatically along a set path, however the player can increase the speed the characters travel at by rapidly pressing the A Button, with a faster speed indicated by white streaks coming off the canoe. The player must balance the canoe throughout the event by moving the circle pad in the opposite direction to the way the canoe turns, with good balance being indicated by a single orange musical note appearing above the characters' heads. Should the player begin to over balance, the canoe will flash red and drops of sweat will appear around the characters, and the player must then regain balance quickly or the canoe will capsize. The player must then move the circle pad in either direction to upturn the canoe again. The player is not told their time until the end of the race, which will then indicate their position.
Controls
1) Shift balance: Move the Circle Pad from side to side.
2) Row: Tap the A Button repeatedly.
