Anagrams

Written by: BBQ Turtle (talk)

Hi all, welcome to the last 'Shroom of the summer! I've decided to finish with a summery theme, all kinds of things you can find under the sea! If you want to suggest a theme for next time, please let me know on my talk page or in a PM to me on the forums, it'd be great to hear from you- even with a suggestion of just a single Mario-related anagram! Alright, I'll let you dive into these anagrams then!

How it works...
Basically, this puzzle consists of solving the anagrams. Each month has a specific theme, which will give you a clue about what sort of words or phrases the anagrams will be. I've also included the boxes that the anagrams will fit into, so you'll be able to tell how many words it will solve to be and how many letters will be in each word, which should give you a hand too. You'll also notice that within each set of boxes, one of the squares are yellow. As you solve each anagram, note down the letter which appears in the yellow squares, and if you can solve all of the anagrams, you'll also get a bonus anagram to solve from completing all of the others. I've included the letter configuration for this one at the bottom too, just to give you an extra helping hand. Best of luck!

1. GOLDEN ERA

2. SHINE FOB

3. JAM YE BELL

4. ALP DOME

5. LACY HOLD

6. DESSERT PIPE

7. MAY WAR

8. POUR PER CUFF

9. BIANNUAL BIB

10. A MARRED HEM

11. PETTED DOOR

12. HE SUNG

Bonus anagram:

Answers

Word Search

Written by: Shoey (talk)

Man, the Game Boy Advance was rough for Donkey Kong. On the good side, you have ports of Donkey Kong Country, even if they weren't great ports. But they sold well, so what did Nintendo do? That's right, make a weird spin off game where, instead of hot frantic platforming action, Donkey Kong instead climbs pegs? Also for some reason Bubbles, the guy from Clu Clu Land, is playable, which might be the most random playable character in the entire Mario series. I mean, who was sitting there going "yeah I love Clu Clu Land and sure hope the fish helps Donkey Kong!"? That's right! Nobody, because nobody in the world has positive feelings towards Clu Clu Land, 'cause it's, well, Clu Clu Land! So in honor of the dark days of Donkey Kong, this month's Word Search is all about DK: King of Swing. Words can be found horizontally, vertically, diagonally, backwards, and inside other words. As always have fun and stay safe!

Crossword

Written by: MarioMorty (talk)

Hello everyone, it's time for Crosswords. This month the crossword is about the some of the enemies in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Not much else to report, but I got something big planned for the 200th edition special, so be ready for that. Now, I'll depart and get next month's ready.

Hiding Koopa

Written by: Waluigi Time (talk)

Koopa Troopa from Mario Kart 8.
WANTED!

Hello there, 'Shroom readers! I was originally going to do Mario & Luigi: Dream Team for this month's Hiding Koopa for the game's 10th anniversary, but the art from that game isn't really good for hiding Koopas in. Instead, since we just had the Mario Awards, I decided to go with fan-favorite game Super Mario Odyssey! This game is really good at winning awards, to the point where multiple awards have been reworked or removed entirely because Odyssey won them so many times in a row that it got boring. I suspect it'll stay that way at least until we get the next 3D platformer, unless Super Mario Bros. Wonder really knocks everyone's socks off.

Anyway, enough rambling! There are five Koopas hidden in this art from Super Mario Odyssey. Good luck finding them!

Thanks for playing! Did you find them all?

Where in the Marioverse is Carmen Sandiego?

Written by: FunkyK38 (talk)

Each issue, you will be given a case to solve and clues to use to help you find the solution! Use your Mario knowledge to crack the case!

You will begin each case at the scene of the crime, and you will be given three clues from passerby as to where the next hot spot is and what game it’s from. Using your knowledge of Mario games and the Super Mario Wiki, figure out where the crook is and go track them down! There are four locations each round: the crime scene (1) at the start, two locations (2 and 3) with clues, and the hideout for the crook of the month (4). Answers for locations will be given with the corresponding round, for example, the clues from the crime scene will lead you to location 2, and once you open the spoiler bubbles for location 2, you will be given the correct answer. You can open the clues for each location in any order you’d like, but be careful! You may encounter an incorrect clue that could throw you off the case!

Clues offered will give you a hint either about the next location or the game it’s in. Unlike a regular Carmen Sandiego game, you do not have to collect information about the crook you are tracking down.

Challenge round (optional):

-Find all locations and games correctly in two minutes or less

-Find all locations and games correctly without using the rest of the Wiki for help

Even small fry cases are valuable.

“There’s been no sign of Carmen so far, gumshoe, but we have a smaller case for you this time. Bowser Jr. has reported that someone has stolen his Nintendo Switch, and he wants you to track the thief down for him. He was informed that this wouldn’t fall under your workload, but he was very insistent that you be assigned to this case, and we begrudgingly obliged. It sounds like the thief was able to move around Bowser’s Castle with little to no suspicion, so we believe you will be looking for a minion, like a Koopa or Goomba. A lost item case might be relaxing for you this month with low stakes, so why not give it a try?”

Crime Scene

The Crime

Someone snatched Bowser Jr.'s Switch! Find the console and stop the thief!

CLUE 1

“Wait, where did all the minions go? There’s just ghosts now…”

CLUE 2

“What fascinating fossils… The species indicates that this area was once a vast sea. Simply amazing!”

CLUE 3

“This game was full o’ beans!”

Location 2

CORRECT ANSWER

Teehee Valley from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga Mario and Luigi looking after Peach while wandering in the deserts of Teehee Valley.

CLUE 1

“I hope this terrible weather clears up. You can’t see the sunset in a blizzard!”

CLUE 2

“Wait, these enemies aren’t part of the Snowmads? But they’re penguins!”

CLUE 3

“I would hate to see what would had happened in this series had a fourth game been released following the trend of protagonist kidnappings…”

Location 3

CORRECT ANSWER

Lemguin Lunge from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble Lemguin Lunge

CLUE 1

“I hope you remembered to bring your coins. You’ll need to win big to get any information here.”

CLUE 2

“The odds are somewhat in your favor here, if you like making a 20% profit.”

CLUE 3

“This game shared many aspects, such as battle mechanics, with its predecessor, and subsequent games would later go on to break with these original two.”

CASE CLOSED

HIDEOUT ANSWER: Pianta Parlor from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door PMTTYD Piantaparlor.png

A small fry turned into real hot potatoes!

“Gumshoe, you’ve made quite the discovery here. When we arrived to collect the console, we found that the casino had been taking multiple items that had been stolen from all over the Mushroom Kingdom, including whole Kart sets, sports equipment, stolen landmarks, and many, many different consoles belonging to the people of the Mushroom Kingdom, and beyond, even. We’ve connected with Kingdom police to return the stolen items, but it looks like there was a bigger ring going on here than we originally planned. And the juiciest tidbit? Reports of a woman in red coming to pick up residual payments piqued our interest, so we are going to stay behind to do some more investigations. Bowser Jr. sent over his allowance as a reward for your investigation, we added it to your paycheck for this month. Good work, gumshoe, now head back to your desk and we’ll update you on your next case.”
