Next Level Games is a Canadian video game company that has made five video games of the Super Mario franchise, namely all three of the Mario Strikers games, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, and Luigi's Mansion 3. Next Level Games is also credited as "Special Thanks" in the Nintendo 3DS remake of Luigi's Mansion. Additionally, the company developed Super Mario Spikers until the game was canceled in favor of Punch-Out!! for the Wii. The company also created other sports games for the Nintendo GameCube (and competing consoles).
Due to the success of its games for Nintendo, the studio co-founder, Jason Carr, announced that Next Level Games would be working exclusively with Nintendo following the release of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.[1] On January 5, 2021, Nintendo announced that it had acquired 100% stake in Next Level Games, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.[2]
