Good job on your edit there, but there really is no need to add that many links in the same paragraph, especially when they all lead to the same location or two. Just an FYI :)    23:12, 8 July 2016 (EDT)

Yeah. General rule is that even a fairly bulky section only needs one link to any given page. (On a short page, one link to a certain page is enough for an entire article, and not every section needs to link to a page even when it could be done). - Reboot (talk) 23:35, 8 July 2016 (EDT)

VersusEdit

Never refer to the player as "you". It's means it is, not its. Don't start sentences with a full stop. This is an encyclopedia, not a game guide.CrashBash (talk) 04:08, 9 July 2016 (EDT)

When creating an article, please refer to the Manual of Style to see how one should be written.   Mario JC

RE:Inability to create user pageEdit

I believe you are able to create a user page once you have become autoconfirmed. In other words, you must've had an account for four days and you must've edited the wiki at least five times. Please view your Welcome template for more info.    11:58, 9 July 2016 (EDT)

Waluigi rumourEdit

Please don't re-add the info regarding Waluigi's "appearance" in Mario 64 DS (You also didn't provide a source), as rumours are not covered here. Thanks.   Mario JC

Quick reminderEdit

Hey there! When you write a game title in an article, you must use italics. Like this: the code ''Super Mario 64'' creates Super Mario 64. Thanks for reading!

  Shokora (talk · edits) 17:54, 24 July 2016 (EDT)

Ritvik12Edit

I've noticed you share the same IP address as Ritvik12 (talk), which you recently used to edit the Super Mario 64 DS page as well. Please do not create more than one account to edit on the wiki, as this is known as sockpuppeting and is considered a level three offence. You've had a history of doing this, but it's possible you didn't know so I'll let you off for now (But if this happens again you may receive a last warning). From now on, please use this account only. Thanks for understanding.   Mario JC

@Mario jc So I can only edit as Marole3? Marole3 1:29 July 28, 2016

Yes.   Mario JC
Just another thing: Whenever you write a game title, please remember to always italicise them and use the full name (so Super Mario 64 instead of SM64). You should also consider seeing if any info you intend to add to the trivia section would fit better elsewhere in the article instead, like the "Regional differences" section for your point about Jolly Roger Bay's painting (More info here).   Mario JC

ReminderEdit

Please stop adding excessive amounts of unnecessary information on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

I'm referring specifically to your multiple consecutive edits on the Super Mario 64 DS page:

Please don't say things like which level is the "easiest", "hardest" or "tricky". That kind of info is subjective, even if that's what the majority thinks. Furthermore, please avoid using informal language and words like "awesome", "cooler", and especially your image caption: "Here, Yoshi is thinking 'Hmm, for who can I be'". Keep in mind that you're editing an encyclopedia, so you're expected to write in a professional and unbiased manner.

If you see that someone removed a bad edit that you made, that does not mean you should revert it back without stating a reason. I highly suggest you go over some of the Writing Guidelines (especially this). It also seems you've been forgetting previous advice regarding italics and multiple links, so please remember that as well.

Lastly, regarding the "Luigi's long arms" glitch, please place that in the glitches page and provide a source for it. Thanks.   Mario JC

@Mariojc What's wrong with these quotes above? The earlier revisions of the page had it. TheUnknown67 was the one who added "Yoshi can jump even he has something in his mouth" in the Notable mistakes and errors section. Is it an error? Marole3 July 29, 2016

As I said, they are examples of opinionated and informal writing and shouldn't be used on the wiki. (This is what I'm talking about - Please don't add opinions or suggestions to articles.) You've also forgotten to use italics (This is done by putting two apostrophes on either end of the game title, like so: ''Super Mario 64'', as YoshiKong told you above. Or just click on the letter I icon above the text box and type in the name). Please remember these writing guidelines, otherwise a warning will be issued.   Mario JC

TriviaEdit

Please don't add excessive amounts of trivia, as this is discouraged on the wiki. I removed the ones you added in that edit, as they do not classify as trivia, for various reasons:

  • Does not relate to the page itself (Korean version of NSMB, crate-shaped Yoshi eggs, "SMB has multiple endings"). In cases like these, please place them on the page it relates to most (New Super Mario Bros., Yoshi Egg, Super Mario Bros.). Note: Elements that were originally going to be in SM64DS belong here.
  • Obvious info (The spiked Thwomps, mission names).
  • Speculative info (Luigi's inclusion, "Wario coming to Peach's castle for the cake").

Overall, trivia should be a low priority when adding information. As I've said before, some of the info can be incorporated somewhere else in the article instead. Please read MarioWiki:Trivia for more information.

Also, please watch your spelling/grammar when you edit, as I've noticed several errors in your edits (most common is "it's"/"its" - "It's" means "it is"; "Its" is a possessive pronoun, as in "its chain"), and additionally, please remember to use italics for game titles. Both are just as important as and make up part of the Writing Guidelines. Thanks.   Mario JC

ReminderEdit

Please stop making edits with poor spelling/grammar on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

You added this bit to Super Mario 64 DS:

  • King Bob-mob says "It's against the royal rules in the original" but says Against the Rules" in this version

Not only did you misspell King Bob-omb's name, you included "in the original" inside the quotes as if they were part of the quote, forgot to add the first quotation mark for "against the rules", capitalized the first letters of "against" and "rules" no apparent reason, and didn't finish your sentence with a period.    13:44, 1 August 2016 (EDT)

WarningEdit

This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (making careless edits, adding unnecessary info/trivia and reverting previously undone edits) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site.
If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

As I've noticed while going over your many edits on Super Mario 64 DS, you still continue to careless edits, even after you were given specific advice to avoid this. Among them, you did the same thing 7feetunder corrected you for above, added more unnecessary adjectives (Saying the ending without Wario is "better" turns it into opinion), confused "it's" with "its", forgot to capitalise proper nouns like "Spindrift", and even forgot to include italics even after I reminded you three times. You also redid the edits others, including an admin, already reverted (Granted, I fixed your most recent ones rather than revert them again, but it's still unacceptable).

No one likes having to always correct someone else's edits, and it'd be simpler for them to just revert them. So if you wish for your edits to stay, then please take better care in your edits and follow the advice that has been given to you. You are also encouraged to edit a variety of pages on the wiki, not just the one. Thanks.   Mario JC

I did not revert anyone else's edit. Which words should I add? Marole3

But you did re-include many of your previous edits here that were already removed in these edits, without any explanation. Also, I'm not telling you specifically which words you should and shouldn't use. The words in quotes were examples I listed to give you a general idea of the kind of writing you should avoid; they are not words you should exclusively leave out.   Mario JC

Super Mario 64 DSEdit

Please stop adding unneeded descriptive words on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing.
If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it.

I see Super Mario 64 DS is your current obsession at the moment. That's totally fine (mine is Project X Zone 2). However, you continue to make low quality edits concerning info about SM64DS. It's great that you're trying to improve the info displayed, but all you're doing is adding a mess of unneeded descriptive words that just makes the info and paragraph(s) longer than they really need to be. Please see here for more info.    18:24, 7 August 2016 (EDT)

They may have been true, but they were redundant and unneeded. And I changed Wario's slightly to make it flow better.
I know it's difficult to add new info to a game that been out for a while and people have been working on it, but time is really better spent adding in real info rather than descriptive adjectives.    11:44, 8 August 2016 (EDT)

RE:File descriptionsEdit

Because it doesn't exactly show what they are running toward (can't be Peach, the castle is behind them!), so it was removed due to being speculation.    10:50, 18 August 2016 (EDT)

Last warningEdit

This is your last warning. The next time you break the rules in any way, you will be blocked from editing the Super Mario Wiki.
If you feel this last warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.

There is really no excuse in forgetting italics after you've been reminded about it six times. This is your last warning.

Also something not related to this warning, there's no need to edit Super Mario 64 DS under different anonymous IP addresses to hide your identity. I only said it was encouraged you edit other pages, not required.   Mario JC

CharactersEdit

I was only describing the characters' abilities.

What's the link on Chief Chilly page for.

And what words should I not add? --Marole3 (talk) 01:17, 21 August 2016 (EDT)

You're missing the point of my warning. Please read over it again.   Mario JC 04:58, 21 August 2016 (EDT)

Okay so are italics like this? " " --Marole3 (talk) 23:19, 21 August 2016 (EDT)

Besides "SM64DS", I'm also editing "Mario Kart DS". --Marole3 (talk) 01:38, 22 August 2016 (EDT)

Italics are written with two apostrophes, not quotation marks, like this: ''[[Mario Kart DS]]'' And you don't need to worry about doing it on talk pages, just in articles.   Mario JC 03:52, 22 August 2016 (EDT)

Re: ItalicsEdit

Using italics is simple. It's just two apostrophes (') on either side of the word/name. For example, you'd write Super Mario 64 as

''Super Mario 64''

Keep in mind that this is only for names of games, not names of characters.

For more info, there is a "Help" option on the top bar when using the editing box that displays various forms of what I call "wikitext". You can also take a look at Help:Format for a full list of coding.

I know the wiki uses a lot of coding, but it's always readily available to look at if you need it.    18:20, 24 August 2016 (EDT)

Again, as Alex95 said, italics are used only for game titles. Not characters, places or anything else. Super Mario 64 is a game title. Tick-Tock Clock, Hazy Maze Cave etc. are not.   Mario JC 06:23, 26 August 2016 (EDT)

Is it okay if I restore the material without italics? --Marole3 (talk) 10:47, 26 August 2016 (EDT)

Eh, I'm gonna say no. Most of what you wrote in was more about Toad as a species rather than Toad as a character, and what you put in is already part of the Toad (species) page.    10:51, 26 August 2016 (EDT)

Writing GuidlinesEdit

Besides using italics correctly, careless edits, and adding unneeded info, did I not follow anything else? --Marole3 (talk) 23:23, 29 September 2016 (EDT)

Nothing else. If there's anything you're unsure about, please don't hesitate to ask or visit the rules page.   Mario JC 09:14, 1 October 2016 (EDT)

RE:SummaryEdit

I somehow knew you were going to message me about that...

The way you worded the plot was excessive, yes. I was just trying to clean it up for you.
You also continue to add in unneeded adjectives, such as the "mighty ? block." What's that about?
As for the Wario bit, it just plain wasn't needed.

Please give this a look.   22:31, 3 October 2016 (EDT)

A "box above the article" (aka Template:Rewrite) is something we try to avoid. Don't add in information just so the template will be added, telling users "The following is excessive and needs to be rewritten."    22:33, 3 October 2016 (EDT)

Your recent editsEdit

This is an informal reminder of your recent edits. It seems you've just been going back to your original editing ways, because you continue to present certain information in the incorrect writing style I had warned you about earlier, or just unnecessary information in general. Looking here, you wrote that heavyweight drivers are "considered the best" and middleweight drivers are "suitable for beginners", which falls under the "strategy guide" style of writing which isn't allowed on the wiki. You should know by now that we're an encyclopedia that deals with information, not tips and recommendations.

This goes for some of your relatively older edits as well; you needlessly sneaked in an adverb "extremely" here to describe freezing water, as well as a particularly notable one I really should have notified you of earlier, and an example of the kind of poor writing I've been referring to:

Big Boo's Haunt is particularly a scary course, not only because it is full of Boos, but also it is basically an abandoned mission which seemed to have been inhabited before. It is probably the scariest Ghost House in the Mario series with evil books, chairs, and an evil piano that can scare the player to death if unawared of this cursed furniture.

Your use of the adjective "scary" and phrase "scare the player to death" is completely unnecessary. Not only is it flowery and grimdark writing (which goes against policy), but it's also opinion-based information as I've mentioned to you in the past. And yes, Big Boo's Haunt may be "scary" to some people, or heavy characters may be the "best" for some people, but this sort of thing is purely subjective and does not belong on mainspace, where we deal with the facts.

Overall, and once again, please steer clear of emphatic and opinion-based descriptors and strategic suggestions in your edits. Given you were blocked for this matter in the past, consider this as a final reminder.   Mario JC 08:40, 11 December 2016 (EST)

So I'm still adding subjective/opinionated adverbs which should be avoided and words like scary or extremely aren't used in the wiki? And what did you mean by steer clear emphatic, opinion-based descriptors, and suggestions. Didn't you say I should avoid them? Marole3 (talk) 14:09, 11 December 2016 (EST)

Yes; "steer clear" means to avoid something.   Mario JC 05:47, 12 December 2016 (EST)

RE:InformationEdit

I'm going to be blunt here; sometimes you just have to deal with people fixing your edits. It happens. There's no need to message someone asking for why they changed it, unless they made a complete error. I was fixing your edits, correcting mistakes and errors. I realize it may seem like I'm picking on you, as I've been fixing your mistakes for you, but that's not the case. I'm here to help.

For Super Mario World, most of the info you added was strategic, which is a no-go on this wiki. For Super Mario 64, the bit about Bowser missing stars, while good info, doesn't exactly "fit" into the article and the part about Yoshi wasn't necessary, as it has nothing to do with Bowser. And the silhouette trivia was worded wrong and the SimCity bit was already mentioned in the cameos section.

I'll see if I can find a way to re-add the missing stars bit.    15:34, 17 December 2016 (EST)

Mario/LuigiEdit

Hello, could you please explain the large-scale edits you made on the Mario and Luigi pages?   Mario JC 00:34, March 31, 2019 (EDT)

I recognize the edit on the Mario page. It's very similar to the one in MarioWiki:BJAODN/Characters#Mario. My guess is that they reverted to that revision after viewing the BJAODN. TheDarkStar   16:33, April 4, 2019 (EDT)
