Template:LevelboxDKL2 Slime Climb is the fifteenth level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. It is also the fifth area of Krem Quay in Diddy's Kong Quest, as well as the tenth level of Krem Cauldron in Donkey Kong Land 2.

This is a unique rigging level, as the water continuously rises throughout it. In Diddy's Kong Quest, Diddy and Dixie cannot dawdle, as a Snapjaw lurks in the water, and it must be avoided at all costs. If they happen to fall into the water, the enemy quickly dashes up to them and attacks one of them. In Donkey Kong Land 2, Snapjaws do not appear, however, the water can automatically hurt the Kongs if they touch it. Klomps, Klingers, Krunchas, Klobbers, Neeks, Click-Clacks, Flitters, Zingers, and a single Kannon, all are obstacles in the Kongs' path to the top of the ship. This is one of the few level's in both games to contain one or more Invincibility Barrels.

At the start of the level, the heroes can travel east and jump across the ship's many masts. There are a few Click-Clacks on the way to faze them. Soon, they meet a dead end, where there are some ropes hanging above. The ropes lead into a safe, higher area, where the water ceases to rise. More mast platforms are farther ahead, along with some more Click-Clacks and a powerful Kruncha. Additional ropes are at the end of the masts, and the water rises again as the apes climb. The Kongs must race up the ropes to a few platforms. At some point, the group gets to a platform with a Klomp on it, and the water stops moving up. Ropes are placed after the last platform. There are some Klingers sliding down these ropes, as well as a Zinger in Diddy and Dixie's path. The water also continues to rise here. The heroes continue up several more sets of ropes until they reach some mast platforms. A Star Barrel if to the east of here.

Now halfway through the level, the Kongs avoid the Kannon in their way and climb up more ropes. As usual, the water continues to rise here. Masts are located after the ropes to help the primates progress, and another set of ropes is even farther ahead. A Flitter is needed to reach a set of ropes later on in the stage, and this set of ropes have Klingers crawling on then. The water stops rising at this point. A Flitter can assist the Kongs in reaching some masts shortly after this happens, but the rises not long after the apes begin to climb the next group of ropes. These ropes are covered by Zingers, along with some Flitters, who can help them cross a large gap between two sets of ropes. A group of masts are father ahead, and they lead to some more ropes. Once the heroes get up these ropes, they can reach the mast above them, and then travel west across several platforms. Klomps occupy each of these platforms, leading to another mast and a group of ropes. The water ceases to rise again here, and two Flitters nearby fly over a small gap. The Flitters can be bounced on to reach barrel, which can then blast the Kongs to the End of Level Target.

Donkey Kong Land 2

Starting from the beginning of the level, the Kongs can move along a path of masts and ropes. As the heroes climb and the water rises Click-Clacks and a Kruncha hinder in the Kongs' progress. More ropes are farther ahead into the level, taking the Kongs higher and higher. There are several Zingers in the primates' paths on the way, and a group of masts nearby lead to some more ropes. More enemies are on these rope, including Zingers, a Klinger, and a Flitter. A set of masts lead to some hooks that can assist the Kongs in reaching the next group of ropes. Platforms, ropes, and hooks are located farther ahead and must be climbed to reach a Flitter, which the Kongs can bounce off of to reach the Star Barrel.

From here, the heroes must cling onto more ropes. As they climb across and jump rope-to-rope, there are Klingers trying to attack them. Once the group manages to make it to the next mast, they can travel east to find some Flitters, whom they can bounce on to reach more ropes. There are more Klingers on these ropes for the heroes to maneuver around. Masts infested with Click-Clacks are farther into the level, along with some hooks leading to the next mast. Hooks are located around these mast to bring to Kongs to even higher areas, where there are some more enemies, including two Krunchas and a Kaboing. The masts lead to some platforms that can take the primates to some Flitters. The Flitters can be bounced on to reach some more ropes, which are infested with Zingers. The ropes lead to a mast with a spring on it. If the Kongs jump on the spring, they are sent to the next level.

Secrets

Donkey Kong Country 2

K-O-N-G Letters

  • K: West from the location of the first DK Barrel in the level, the heroes can find the letter K in front of a yard. They must use their super-jump move to grab it.
  • O: The letter O is located next to a set of ropes found to the left of the second DK Barrel in the level.
  • N: After the Kongs pass the third DK Barrel in the level, they reach a set of yards that they must travel across. By using some ropes, they can reach a higher set of yards with more ropes above them. As the heroes climb these ropes, they can find the letter N hidden at the bottom of a rope.
  • G: To the left of the kannonball, the heroes can find a trail of bananas. If they follow this trail by swimming through the water, they reach a hidden yard that holds two Banana Bunches, a DK Barrel, and the letter G.

Bonus Levels

  • Shortly after the heroes pass the Star Barrel, they find a Kannon standing on a yard next to an Invincibility Barrel that, if touched, can give them temporary invincibility. Therefore, if they touch it, they can swim through the water without being damaged by the Snapjaw. After they touch this uncommon barrel, they must head into the small gap to the left and follow the underwater path of bananas, which lead them to a Bonus Barrel. They barrel sends them to a Bonus Level, where they must collect 70 stars in 25 seconds by hopping off of some ropes floating in the air. When all of the objects are collected, a Kremkoin appears to grab within the remaining time. If the heroes fail to collect the coin before time expires, or if they fall into an abyss, they lose the Bonus Level and must reenter it to have another chance to win the coin.
  • Near the end of the level, the heroes can discover kannonball sitting along a wooden platform on a mast. They must pick it up and hop across the nearby platforms, which hold Klomps that try to impede in their progress. Soon, they primates come up to a kannon, which they can load by placing the kannonball into it. If they enter the kannon while it is loaded, they are shot to a Bonus Level, where they must defeat three Flitters and two Zingers in 25 seconds. The insect enemies are mostly positioned high in the air, so the Kongs must jump on platforms to reach them. There are kannonballs on some of the platforms, and they can be used to defeat the enemies. A DK Barrel is also at the start of the bonus to defeat enemies and additionaly save an missing partner. If the primates defeat all of the enemies before the time limit is up, a Kremkoin appears at the top of the stage for them to grab.

DK Coin

The group approaches the level's DK Coin.
  • When the Kongs reach the highest yard at the end of the level, they should find an Invincibility Barrel hidden in the corner of the screen. While using their Team-up move, they need to toss one another into the air and break the barrel, giving them temporary invincibility. After this, they must jump into the gap below the two nearby Flitters and swim east, where they should be able to find a DK Coin. As they swim towards the coin, their invincibility protects them from the Snapjaw's attacks.

Golden Feather (Game Boy Advance version only)

  • Almost immediately before the end of the level, the heroes must look to the left, where they can discover an Invincibility Barrel. With their Team-up move, they can reach the barrel and become invincible for a short amount of time. While invincible, they must jump into the gap to the right and swim slightly to the left, where the Golden Feather is located. As they swim through the water, their invincibility protects them from the Snapjaw's attacks.

Donkey Kong Land 2

K-O-N-G Letters

  • K: On the third level of yards, the primates can find a Kaboing. A small yard is hidden shortly before this foe, and the letter K is above it.
  • O: The letter O is placed above two Flitters positioned immediately before the Star Barrel.
  • N: The letter N is located near some hooks that are placed shortly before the Invincibility Barrel.
  • G: Shortly before the end of the level, the Kongs travel across the area by jumping along a few platforms that are attached to the masts. The letter G is between two of these platforms, and a super-jump is required to reach it without falling.

Bonus Level

  • A while after the Kongs pass the Star Barrel, they break an Invincibility Barrel and bounce off of a Flitter. Instead of landing on the yard ahead, they should drop down under it and fall along a short path of bananas, which lead them into a Bonus Barrel. The barrel then sends them into a Bonus Level, where they must reach the end of an obstacle course. They must begin this course by jumping up to several platforms, and then climbing across a long tightrope. After dropping down to another rope and climbing across it, the heroes reach a Kremkoin, which they have 25 seconds total to grab. If the primates fail to discover and collect this coin within the time limit, or if they fall into a pit or get hit by an enemy, they lose the Bonus Level and must reenter it to try again.

DK Coin

  • Immediately after Star Barrel, the Kongs reach a set of ropes that they must climb to the top of in order to discover a pair of Flitters. If they bounce to the left with these foes, they can find a DK Coin.
