Spike (film character)

Spike is the name of one of King Koopa's cousin in the movie Super Mario Bros. He works with his other cousin Iggy to kidnap Princess Daisy. Iggy sometimes calls him Spikeasaurus[1].
Spike is portrayed as being very dumb, and fails all the tasks that King Koopa gives him. King Koopa becomes very angry at both him and Iggy, so he has them both evolved to be smarter. This is done using a machine primarily designed for de-evolving people into Goombas. Now thinking for themselves, the Koopa cousins decide to become allies with Mario and Luigi.
Spike is most likely based on the enemy, Spike.
