Merlee's Mansion is the home of Merlee in Super Paper Mario. It is the setting of Chapters 2-2, 2-3, and 2-4. It was taken over by Mimi during the events of Chapter 2. In 2-2, Mimi attempts to dispose of Mario and Peach by leading them into various rooms with traps in them. In the first room, a switch causes a spiked ceiling to begin to descend on the player, but it can be easily avoided by switching to 3D. At the top of the room, the player finds a key. Mario can continue going to all of the other rooms, but there's nothing else there. In the main hall, Mario flips to 3D and sneaks past the Gnaw there, unlocking the door, and setting the Gnaw loose on Mimi.

In 2-3, Mimi places a vase atop a ? Block that is needed to get to the upper floors. When Mario breaks it, she forces him to pay it off. It is required to get 1,000,000 rubees, but with the help of other inmates and Slim, Mario manages to get the required amount of money in no time at all.

In 2-4, Mario and Peach search the basement of the mansion for Merlee. Before this, however, Merlee projects a hologram of herself to warn them to be careful when they find her. They eventually do, but it quickly becomes apparent that it's Mimi in disguise. After she realizes that her disguise is useless, she changes to her true form: a spider-like creature that's invincible. She chases the player throughout the basement, until the real Merlee is finally found in a bathroom. Mimi, however, finds them, and, emitting a blinding flash of light, impersonates Merlee again.

This time, however, the player can't see which one is the real one. In order to find out, they participate in a game show where Mario asks them questions, and has to choose which one he thinks is real. No matter what the outcome is, the player faces off against Mimi, except this time Merlee helps by disabling her invincibility. Once she is defeated, Merlee gives Mario and Peach the Pure Heart. By the end of the game, however, Mimi was hired for real by Merlee to watch the mansion while Merlee, herself, stayed in Flopside.

Trivia

  • This is the third mansion to be appear in the Paper Mario series as the home of an important character. The other two were Boo's Mansion in Paper Mario and Flurrie's Mansion in Super Paper Mario.
  • Incidentally, the music of Merlee's Mansion has several interludes full of altered versions of Mimi's theme. Oddly, though, Merlee's theme (the same as Merluvlee's) is never heard throughout the entire Chapter 2.
