Official Name

Just a question: Where'd the name 'Octoguy" come from? Vent 14:53, 28 May 2012 (EDT)

Also, according to Wikipedia Japan their name is タコヘイ (Takohei), unless I'm mixing the descriptions up. Vent 14:54, 28 May 2012 (EDT)

It be a etymology of Octoomba and guy.

Shy Guy?

Their japanese name is Takohei which simply means Octopus Soldier, but it could also be a portmanteau of Octopus (Tako) and Shy Guy (Heiho). The english translators also seemed to notice this and therefore named the enemy Octoguy. MLSSBMTashrooba.pngVOIDTHIS (talk)MLSSBMShroobRex.png 23:43, 28 October 2018 (CET)

Can we be sure about any of this? Does "hei" mean a lot of generic things in Japanese? Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 20:57, 28 October 2018 (EDT)

That's just a listing of Shy Guy's names. I mean, can we be sure that "hei" and "guy" similarities aren't spurious connections? Even in the link you gave me, there's a mention of "foot soldier". So far, I'm seeing spurious connections. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 19:22, 7 November 2018 (EST)
