Plot
Mario and Luigi run off into the fog, leaving Toad and Omochao behind. The pair come across Dry Bowser and a Dry Bones, and mistake them for Mario and Luigi. The pair ask Toad and Omochao to join them protecting the Phantasmal Fog, and, after Dry Bones almost reveals the cause of it, also promise to explain the cause of the fog to them too. Toad and Omochao refuse, causing Dry Bowser and Dry Bones to challenge them. Mario and Luigi return and instead challenge Dry Bones and Dry Bowser, who challenge them to an Olympic Event.
After Mario and Luigi win the event, the group begins to argue until Omochao spots a Fog machine nearby that is causing the fog. Toad suggests that Mario and Luigi try to stop the machine, while Dry Bowser tells them not to. Mario and Luigi Ground Pound on the dome at the top of the machine, causing it to break and stop producing the fog. Dry Bones and Dry Bowser run off once the machine has broken, while the four celebrate the return of the clear skies. Toad suggests that the opening ceremony can now be held, but notices that none of the athletes have arrived, believing them to have been held up by the fog. Mario notices that Dry Bones and Dry Bowser have left, and Toad worries that they won't be able to get to the bottom of what's been going on. Luigi notices that the sky over Hyde Park is still foggy, where Princess Peach and several others are staying. Believing Bowser's minions to have put fog machines there, Mario, Luigi and Toad head to Hyde Park to investigate, while Omochao remains at the stadium to keep an eye on things there.
