This is a Buzzy Beetle. Buzzy Beetles are cute--but mean. Max HP: 3, Attack Power: 2, Defense Power: 2 Fire attacks don't work very well against these hardheads. If you can flip 'em, though, their defense power falls to 0. Keep flipping 'em, Mario! I heard that they used to flourish all over the place, but now they're only found in dark, shadowy places.

That's a Buzzy Beetle. Awww... It's kinda cute! Max HP is 5, Attack is 3, and Defense is 4. It's got pretty good Defense... and fire and explosions don't hurt it whatsoever. But, if you jump on it, you can flip it over and drop its Defense down to 0. Then it's at our mercy! Ha! Don't hesitate! Jump! Jump! Jump jump jump!

This is a Buzzy Beetle... It's much tougher than it looks... Max HP is 1, Attack is 1, and Defense is 3. Even flames won't scorch its hard shell... Sometimes, they cling to the ceiling and drop down on your head when you walk by... Not very friendly, Buzzy... Shame on you...

Buzzy Beetle
|
|
NES Super Mario Bros.
|
A Koopa underling with a heavy shell protecting it from fire. Stomping on Buzzy Beetles from above is the main way to deal with them, but spiked variations that cannot be stomped also exist. After saving Princess Peach in Super Mario Bros. and starting a new game, you'll find that most Goombas have turned into Buzzy Beetles.

|
Buzzy Beetle
|
|
A bothersome enemy protected by a hard shell. Mario's fireballs have no effect on these guys, much to the envy of their Koopa buddies. Buzzy Beetles also like to hang out on ceilings and then rudely drop on Mario as he passes. That sturdy shell gives Mario a major headache!
|
A troublesome foe protected by a tough shell. Some Buzzy Beetles walk upside-down on ceilings and fall on Mario as he walks past, so watch out! Surely they're going to crack their shells one day, dropping from the ceiling like that... Best to avoid this crazy situation altogether.

Super Mario series
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
- Trading Card description: "These blue-shelled beetles are tough enemies to crack. Buzzy Beetles are infamous for crawling across the ceiling and falling right on you. They have tough fireproof shells that are resistant to most weapons. The best plan of attack is stomping them, which causes them to hide in their shell. Then you can use the sliding shell to knock other enemies right off their feet."
Card Number: 23
Super Mario Maker
- Play Nintendo: "Koopas aren't the only shell game in town—you can also hop on a Buzzy Beetle to surf in style! Shake a Bill Blaster to turn it into a Bull's-Eye Blaster. Place a Buzzy Beetle shell inside a Bull's-Eye Blaster. Then jump onto the shell after it’s fired from the blaster and ride!"[1]
Super Mario Run
- Notebook bio: "This black turtle is protected by a tough shell. It'll sometimes walk on the ceiling, falling on foes below."
Dr. Mario World
- Stage mode: "Grants 20%/40%/60%/80%/100% chance a shell will appear on stage start."
- Versus mode: "Grants 20%/40%/60%/80%/100% chance a shell will appear on stage start."
