Hi, I'm Scarlet Pairo! (they/them)
I'm a young Mario / Donkey Kong Country fan who grew up with a Wii and a DS. You can talk to me about basically any video game from the Mario and Donkey Kong franchises. I'd be glad to make some friends here, so you can expect me to pop up on your talk page some day :D

I sketch a lot of stuff in my free time, but I mostly hang around somewhere on the internet. From time to time, I may read a book, but it's hard for me to get convinced a book is worth reading.

Feel free to message me if something concerns you, I'm trying my best on this Wiki. (-。- ;)

North American box art for Donkey Kong Country Oh. boy. This game is absolutely stunning, especially back when it came out. The graphics still hold up today, and back then, they blew everyone's mind. This was movie quality. The controls are amazing, being able to speed through levels by just jumping and rolling along always makes you feel like a pro speedrunner, and the creativity put into this game is incredible. The soundtrack - ohhh my - is one of the best if not the best out there, and the atmosphere it provides is incredibly charming! The backgrounds look beautiful as well, the newly established characters are amazing and generally, the game is just amazing. Sadly, the save system and the bosses are kinda trash, and so is the last world, Chimp Caverns, but everything else is good enough anyways. Also, the Animal Buddies allow for more variety and more charming characters! My favorite Animal Buddy is Winky. Completed to 101% twice. 9.6/10
North American box art for Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest If you thought the first game was good, then here it is again. With new amazing Kongs. With brand-new levels. New environments. New location - enemy territory. New theming - adventure / horror. New brilliant soundtrack by composer David Wise. New and better bosses, new Animal Buddies, new everything! This game fixes many mistakes from it's predecessor and is a mind-blowing game. The bonus rooms are hidden better this time around too. Go play it if you haven't yet! Completed to 102% thrice, once in two-player mode. 9.9/10
North American box art for Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! Perfect game, finish done, that's my opinion.
No, but seriously, this game is my most favorite game ever. The beautiful worlds, the atmospheric soundtrack (composed by the brilliant Eveline Fischer this time around), and the improved gameplay are enough reasons to like this game. Also, it features my favorite Kongs to play as: Dixie Kong, who can glide through the air, and Kiddy Kong, who plays like a mix of Donkey and Diddy Kong. This game is just perfect in every way to me. I could go on for hours, but I don't have the space to do that here. Who knows, maybe something about it will be written by me soon...
Completed to 103% eight times, two of them being a co-op save file, completed to 104% once, and completed to 105% twice. 100/10
File:SMK NA Box Cover.jpg Ehhh... this game was good at it's time, but it hasn't aged well. At all. The Donkey Kong Country titles show how qualitative SNES games could be, but this game... it's confusing to play. But I do know that it has it's fair share of fans. But really... most of the love is not much more than nostalgia... Played Mushroom, Flower and Star cups. 4/10

Boxart for Super Mario Galaxy. The gravity mechanic and the game literally taking place in outer space already makes the game great enough, but the variety in each level, the atmosphere, the characters and the beautiful scenery Super Mario Galaxy delivers improve upon perfection. This was my first Super Mario game, and it definitely was a good start to the series. The only thing bothering me about this game are it's purple coin missions, which get very tedious really quick. Collected 121 Stars with both Mario and Luigi. 9.6/10
Boxart for Super Mario Galaxy 2. Unlike most people, I think the second installment of the Super Mario Galaxy series holds up to the original, by improving greatly on the level design. While most levels don't capture the same atmosphere as the original SMG, they are larger in size and have more Power Stars, including additional Green Stars, which I think are a suited way of extending your gameplay and getting even more familiar with the levels themselves. Also, Yoshi made his Super Mario Galaxy series debut! Collected all 242 Stars and maxed out Star Bit counter. 9.6/10
Super Paper Mario North American cover art The story. The iconic characters. The collectibles. The ever-so unique and beautiful worlds. Everything from this game appeals to me. The story Super Paper Mario presents, and the dark tone given to the game absolutely stunned me on my first playthrough. The characters are presented in a way which makes each of them feel more unique than they would in any other Mario game. From mentally unstable jesters to dweeb lizards, there's something for everyone, or in my case, everything for one. The collectibles are fun to, well, collect. There are hidden treasures which can be found by purchasing treasure maps, there are nearly 100 different recipes for delicious meals which can be made out of most of the obtainable items, and then there are Catch Cards, which give insight on all of the game's characters and enemies. I've also always been a fan of the tattle function, which also gives even more unique insight on nearly everything you encounter on Mario's quest. Seriously. You can tattle almost everything. Lastly, this game gets a point boost for nostalgia. Completed all chapters, collected all Catch Cards, found all treasures, currently cooking the last remaining recipes. 9.8/10
NSMBW NA Box Art.jpg This game holds a dear place in my heart, as it was one of my first Mario games! While the co-op mode will always be the most chaotic creation in existence, it made it possible for me to spend most of my time playing the game with a sibling. The music is iconic (in a good, not repetitive way), the items are fun to use and the level design is as good as ever. Additionally, this game features rideable Yoshis! Once again, the sequel just threw in Yoshi to increase the game value. And yes, it absolutely worked. Sadly, it just doesn't hold up to other games in terms of content. 5-Star save file. 9/10
Mkwii.jpg This Mario Kart title is so damn good, I may even compare it to the Super Mario Galaxies. It never gets boring, especially if you have family around, which seemingly always has time, and ESPECIALLY if you have access to. This was one of the earliest Mario games I grew up with, and I became pretty good at it. Fun fact: I once won a local Mario Kart Wii tournament, which started out with 64 contestants. My first successful tournament :P Completed every cup with three stars, except for a few mirror mode cups. Completed all Time Trials and unlocked every character. 9.9/10
Super Smash Bros. Brawl box art Super Smash Bros. Brawl has some amazing modes (take the Subspace Emissary for example), but sadly, the slow movement of the characters doesn't make this as enjoyable as other installments. However, it is a bit nostalgic for me, and I've always been a fan of the trophy-collecting in Super Smash Bros. Got almost all trophies and stickers, unlocked every fighter and completed Subspace Emissary to 100%. 7.5/10
Boxart of Mario Party 8 Easily my favorite game from the Mario Party series. The boards are really creative and fun to play on, the details put into them are amazing (take Koopa's Tycoon Town for example, which involves a lot of strategy by investing into hotels). The Lucky Space areas, the different fun modes, the minigame collection (which is one of the best the Mario Party series has ever had), the characters and the backgrounds appeal to me. Also, nostalgia bonus. Unlocked and played every board, mode, minigame, and other collectibles like the carnival figurines. I purchased everything available at the Fun Bazaar, unlocked every character and completed the Star Battle arena challenge multiple times. 9.8/10
MP9Boxart.jpg While it isn't as good as MP8, it also holds a special place in my heart. The OST is above average and I love the Mini-Star mechanic this game brought, unlike every other person in existence. The boards are unique adventures too. Unlocked every character and purchased everything available at the museum. 9.5/10
The front North American cover for Mario Sports Mix This game is strangely addicting, with it's fun gameplay and many unlockables. The character roster is... different... from most other Mario spin-offs. It was also a game I primarily grew up with. A major critique point I have for this game is how long each sports takes, with the exception of dodgeball which, is also the best sport in this game. It's fun, but nothing for people that get easily bored. Unlocked everything for dodgeball, and a few things for the other sports. Seriously, the only really fun sport in this game is dodgeball. 7.7/10
USCover MSCF.jpg This game is brutal. Not only because you can quite literally send your opponents flying by ramming them with your full body weight, but also because of how difficult the different Strikers tournaments are to complete. After weeks of trying over and over, I did beat the final champion, Petey Piranha, and unlocked him. Felt very rewarding. The gameplay itself is really fun, but some of the items are a bit too chaotic for my taste, for example the Chain Chomp. Also, Waluigi and Daisy (?) are way too overpowered, as they can teleport a short distance if the ball is charged enough. That short distance is enough for them to just teleport past the goalie and with them, the football. Unlocked every character, almost completed all missions. 8.2/10
European box art for Wario Land: The Shake Dimension. My first (and currently only) Wario Land game! I don't know how it compares to other Wario Land games, but I found it okay. The levels are fun to play through, and the concept of returning to the start of the level fast by taking different routes was very interesting for me. However, the collectibles were way to hard to find and obtain, and that's coming from a total completionist. Completing it the casual way was good for me, but I wasn't up for completing all missions and finding all treasures. Played all levels, but a few hidden levels remain to be found. I did defeat the final boss though. 7.7/10
Screenshot of Wuhu Island in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Wii Sports Resort. Truly a masterpiece. Not only does it feature one of the coolest islands in gaming history, but the many activities are actually fun to play outside of your casual bowling round with friends. This game also holds many memories. The secrets and details spread throughout the game are amazing. Found all "i" points and played most sports, but I only completed the championship for the swordplay activities. 9.8/10
The US box art for Fortune Street. Kind of Mario Party... but also not. A game of Fortune Street is pretty fun, but a game of Fortune Street just lasts way too long. It takes 2-4 hours to finish a game, and you can't save your progress in between. The outfits you can give your Mii are pretty cute though. Unlocked a few Mii accessories. 6.9/10
Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games boxart. Eh. Some of the olympics are cool as minigames but the game itself just feels like it's missing a story mode or something. Don't even get me started on the London Tour. Trust me, you're much better off just playing either Mario Party 8 or Mario Party 9. Unlocked a bunch of Mii costumes and got a gold medal for all sports. 5/10

Box art of New Super Mario Bros. Now for something a bit more classic. While it is a simple game in it's core, it's designed in a really distinctive way. Unique enemies, levels, and most recognizable of all, the unique bosses, really show the potential the NSMB series had. However, the replay value is not something I'm particularly fond of. I can't get myself to get past World 2 after having played it for 2 times, the last time being in 2020... sorry, but desert worlds just aren't my thing. The minigames are pretty good though! Completed every level with each Star Coin; 3-Star save file. 8/10
Sm64ds.jpg Now, I don't know about you, but I think SM64DS is objectively better than the original game for the N64. More characters, more Power Stars, better models and more. To be fair, I grew up with this game, so I may be biased. The gameplay revolves around platforming and exploration, two themes which should cross more often in video games. The levels are amazing, and with it the enemies and secrets. On the topic of secrets: BOY, do I love rumors about this game. The SM64 and SM64DS icebergs blew my mind the first time I saw them. The scenery is also amazing in this game. Not much bad to say, except that the reward for catching all sparkling bunnies is a bit lousy. This game features the same minigame collecion from NSMB, and that gives additional points! Especially because of the casino Luigi ones. Love 'em. Completed 4 times to 100%, minigames included. Played the casino minigames for countless hours! 9.9/10
North American box art for Yoshi's Island DS Let me be honest with you: This game is the 'hardest game I've ever played. I haven't completed the game to 100% until today, because A. Getting 100 points on each level is brutally difficult, especially because of the inclusion of Yoshi's health as points, and B. because the extra levels from each world are stupidly hard. I love the inclusion of the new babies and their new abilities, the music, the enemies and the level design, but some design aspects of this game are just flawed. Not to mention the sidescroller X puzzle gameplay, which I'm not a fan of. Defeated final boss, but stuck on extra level 1. Got most Baby Coins and a few collectibles. Still trying to complete this somehow! 7.2/10
Official cover art for the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. Don't actually remember too much about this game...but I do remember the overworld was pretty cool. ??? ?/10

3DS

Game Review Completion status Rating
North American boxart for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. This version is the final commercial print as released for consumers. This is perhaps one of the games I've played the longest. Not much to say about this one, except that the combat has been improved since Brawl, and that I main Peach / Lucas. I've also gotten most of the DLC, except Ryu and a few stages. My online name? "☆Toro★". One last note: R.O.B. players are nightmarish devils who must've crept out of hell itself. No offense. Collected most (if not all) trophies, unlocked (and bought) every fighter except Ryu. 9.5/10
Box art for the game, Mario Kart 7. This game is pretty much as standard as a Mario Kart can be. I like it, and I play it once a month, but it's a bit boring when you could also just play Mario Kart Wii or Mario Kart Tour. I love the unique characters like Wiggler and Honey Queen, I wish Nintendo would've brought them back in newer Mario Kart games. Unlocked every character and vehicle customization part, except the Gold Kart. 7/10 (Get it?)
The front North American cover art for New Super Mario Bros. 2 As you might already know, I'm a fan of traditional platformers, and that's why I found NSMB2 quite enjoyable the first time playing it. However, every following playthrough was a bit boring. Also, the game isn't too unique, sadly, which was not a bad thing during my first playthrough, because I like basic games, but it makes me not want to replay the game anymore. 5 Star save file. 7.1/10
The North American cover for Super Mario 3D Land My feelings on this game are quite mixed. It was somehow better and worse than NSMB2. It was more creative however, so it's getting a few bonus points. The structure of 2D platformers mixed with 3D environments felt off at first, but it was a pretty good idea. About the replay value... ehh... 5 Star save file. 7.4/10
File:Luigis Mansion dark moon boxart.png This is the only Luigi's Mansion game I've played yet, and boy, was it good. I'm not up for a second playthrough anytime soon, though. I liked the idea of traveling from mansion to mansion, it gave the game more variety. About the mission structure: I found it okay, but the star rank felt unrewarding and finding the Boo in each level was so obnoxious. The mansions themselves were awesome - my favorite mansion by far are the Haunted Towers, a plant infested (the game makes it sound like infested is bad, but it's really cool and gloomy and all that) giant mansion with a massive tree sprouting between both the eastern and western tower of the structure. Also, the Toads from this game are cute. Luigi can literally suck them up and throw them to otherwise unreachable areas. I always found the Toad rescue missions charming! I also like the online mode, I still play it every now and then. Defeated King Boo, but haven't found all Boos yet and haven't gotten 3 stars on each level. 8.6/10
Lunala in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Pokémon Moon... an adventurous, cute, but also quite tedious and repetitive game for me. The only reason why I like Pokémon games in general is the Pokémon-catching, not the fighting, but this game pumps fights in every corner. Leveling up your Pokémon is way too hard, unless you stick to your first 6 Pokémon from the beginning of your adventure or receive lv. 100 shinies from wonder trades, and Z-moves aren't really that fun of a gimmick. The first playthrough was alright, but until now, I have no idea that to do with the game. I went shiny hunting a few times and actually got a shiny Diglett from an egg once, but from then on I never got another (legit) shiny again. Got about 80% of Pokédex filled (I can't find some because of the Pokémon Sun original Pokémon) 6.7/10

Note: The tables above are under construction. When will I finish? Well... perhaps... maybe... uh... later, ... tomorrow, etc. (...)
