Tiki Tong Terror is the boss level of Volcano in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. It is where Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong fight the final boss, Tiki Tong.

There are two music themes that play during the level; "Red Rockin'", which plays during the Rocket Barrel segment, and "Tiki Tong Song", which plays during the boss battle and is composed of the Tikis' hypnosis theme.

Overview

To reach Tiki Tong, the Kongs must first pass a long Rocket Barrel section to reach the top of the volcano and make their way to Tiki Tong Tower. The Kongs must ride upwards through many moving spikes, Tikis on hot air balloons, and other obstacles. Once the section is clear, the Kongs will land directly on an area of inside the volcano to find out there is solid land.

Once the Kongs enter, a cutscene starts as Donkey Kong and Diddy find a large pile of bananas for their banana hoard, causing them to celebrate. Tiki Tong then enters the arena, appearing as a large, floating drum-like head. The other Tikis take smaller piles of bananas and throw them into Tiki Tong's head. After, Tiki Tong spits yellow banana juice all over the Tikis, transforming them into two hands.

Battle

Tiki Tong's attack pattern consists of taking its hands, putting them sideways and sliding them left and right, which the Kongs must dodge by ducking under them. It can also take its hands and clap or slam them into the ground. Tiki Tong can grab Diddy and Donkey Kong or raise one of its hands up and bring it down quickly, leaving him vulnerable. Donkey and Diddy Kong must jump on the red spot on Tong's hands when they are down in order to hurt them. Each hand explodes in a plume of bananas when hit twice.

After losing both hands, Tiki Tong gets enraged. The attack pattern goes from a head slam-drop and then to releasing flaming enemies that either target the Kongs or drop slowly. These are usually long, enduring processes and hearts do not come often. A larger, more fierce head drop takes the top part of the boss's head off for a short period of time revealing another red, glowing weak spot which must be jumped on three times to finally defeat Tiki Tong.
