Yoshi!

Welcome to my userpage! I'm CrystalYoshi (I like crysals and I like the Yoshis so there you go-- A good name for me!). I don't contribute too much to the main space besides fixing people's spelling and grammar mistakes. I mostly just add to article talk pages and vote and comment in proposals. When I see something I think should be expanded or changed, I usually just say so on the talk page. That's because I don't happen to be the greatest encyclopedia writer, and sometimes I don't know the information that should be added. I mean, I have several Mario games, but I can't always play them that frequently... Anyway, I'm not very active, but I'll come on once in a while. I've been here a few months. I used to be called Orangeyoshi, but I think my new name is better. So all you who remember someone new who was called Orangeyoshi, that's me. In case you're wondering who I am in real life, I'm a middle school boy who likes playing Mario games on the weekends, and I actually understand stuff about Mario instead of just playing the game without really understanding it.

Oh, and by the way, I like it when people talk to me. So leave a comment if you have anything to say! Whenever I see that "you have new messages" thing, I get all exited and start thinking, "Who is it?" What did they have to say?" And I get so eager. So I appreciate comments.

Opinion

Here's one of my many opinions about Mario: I'm not too crazy about the way Nintendo makes up some characters only for sports games, and those characters are usually not unique. Yep, you guys know who I'm talking about: Waluigi. When they needed a new character to "fill the empty space" for Wario's partner, they instantaneously created a Wario-like counterpart for Luigi. I'm don't think anyone on the wiki could fully answer this question: who exactly is Waluigi? No one really knows. His name accurately describes what he is: Wa-Luigi, a "Wa" version of Luigi. Nintendo couldn't even think of a good name. Toadette was like that too, and her name, too, is unoriginal: Toad + ette, which I think sometimes means female. But after her appearance in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! she was in a story game: Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, which is good. Plus, she's a more interesting character than Waluigi. It's basically because when Nintendo needs a lot of characters to fill the space in a sports game, they don't always have enough characters, so they make up unoriginal ones and/or use species, like Koopas, etc. That doesn't really bug me actually, when they use species as characters. After all, I like to play as Boo in some games. However, I think Nintendo should create characters in story games and then use them in sports games. They're starting to do that a little bit; for example, Rosalina was first in Super Mario Galaxy before she was put in a kart race. Also, she has an original name. But Baby Daisy... let's just say I don't think making a baby version of a character, just to fill up space, is the best idea. Lastly, the new characters should maybe be a little more creative... not just baby versions, gender-swiched versions, and weird counterparts.

Mario games, characters, and stuff that I like

I have a Nintendo DS and a Wii, and I used to have a Game Boy Advance. Despite my username, I like Mario games just as much as Yoshi games.

  • Super Paper Mario is probably my favorite Mario game of all time; I love the gameplay, story, levels, and characters. 2nd is Super Mario Galaxy, because the new gameplay elements are fun and the galaxies are cool. 3rd is New Super Mario Bros. 'cause of the classic Mario platformer style, which I really like.
  • I like some 2D platformers, like New Super Mario Bros. which is my favorite one. I also like Super Mario World and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island for GBA, because of the classic style and interesting levels. I also palyed Super Mario Bros. 3 (for GBA and later, Virtual Console), which I liked (except that you can't replay levels). I also like Super Princess Peach a little, but not as much as the others.
  • I also like some RPG games, like Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for it's good gameplay, story, and places. Also, it was one of the first Mario games I played... so it brings back memories for me. The sequel, M&L: Partners in Time, I didn't think was as good; to sci-fi. I also like Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
  • I don't love the 3D platformers quite as much: Super Mario Galaxy was great, but the others were just "pretty good."
  • Yoshi's Island (the game) is better than the sequel, Yoshi's Island DS. So the DS sequel had a few more babies. The original had items, more levels, more fun levels, and I just liked playing it better, somehow.

Okay, enough about games. Now, for my favorite characters, presented in gallery form.
I used to like Yoshi the best, but now I like Toad Just as much as Yoshi, and maybe better. It's partly because I used to like the color green but now I don't. I like the Yoshi species a little better than the Toad species, though. Light Blue Yoshis are the best... if there was a notable Light Blue Yoshi character, that would be my favorite character. Or if there was a notable Yellow Yoshi character, becuase I like Yellow too.

Something kind of random that I wanted to say: I like the colors orange, blue, and yellow. Mario would look cool in a blue shirt and yellow overalls. Luigi would look cool in an orange shirt and yellow overalls.
