User talk:SuperMarioKid
SuperMarioKid has been blocked indefinitely from editing the Super Mario Wiki for continually making questionable edits and ignoring talk page help, reverting edits with no reason, uploading low quality versions of existing images, and not making a lot of sense in general. See the block log. |
Multiple accounts[edit]
This is your last warning. The next time you break the rules in any way, you will be blocked from editing the Super Mario Wiki. If you feel this last warning was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
This is your third account after FanofMario (talk) and AtDukingToPlace (talk). Any more accounts you create, including this one, will be blocked. If there is an issue with your account, such as a forgotten password, contact an admin first rather than create a new account. 22:52, 7 March 2019 (EST)
- @SuperMarioKid Per Alex. Sockpuppeting is considered a level three offense as per the Warning Policy, and you can get blocked if you make sockpuppets without a good reason. Mari0fan100 (talk) 23:04, 7 March 2019 (EST)
"As seen in"[edit]
Stop putting "as seen in" regarding images that are artwork. In NSMB, Troopas used low-resolution prerendered sprites that look very little like that artwork. Therefore, saying that that is how they are "seen in" that game is false information. Stop edit warring. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:25, March 20, 2019 (EDT)
- Also, please stop changing captions that are good as-is to using that. If it's not broken, don't fix it. That just clogs history and becomes repetitive and monotonous. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:27, March 20, 2019 (EDT)
Uploading images[edit]
When uploading an image, please give it a more descriptive title rather than using the default file name. If you're uploading through Special:Upload, please remember to add an appropriate category taken from Category:MarioWiki images (e.g.
) and select the appropriate license from the "Licensing" drop-down menu; since you uploaded through the editor, however, you'd need to manually add the code in into the "Description" box, like so:
==Licensing== game-screenshot
Also, when naming game titles, please remember to italicise them with two apostrophes before and after the name, so Mario Hoops 3-on-3 (Mario Hoops 3-on-3
) must be written as Mario Hoops 3-on-3 (Mario Hoops 3-on-3
). Mario JC 01:28, March 20, 2019 (EDT)
- Adding to this, if an image is already on the wiki, please don't upload a duplicate version in a lower resolution. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:30, March 20, 2019 (EDT)
Consecutive edits[edit]
Rather than making several mistake-fixing edits in a row, use the "Show preview" button to see what your edits look like before saving them; this way the edit history page and recent changes isn't flooded with multiple, unnecessary edit records. If you're making a small edit (e.g. spelling fixes), be sure to mark it as minor. Mario JC 22:27, March 20, 2019 (EDT)
- Do remember the Show Preview button. There are a number of your edits that are just reversions of your previous edits because it didn't do what you expected. 17:33, March 23, 2019 (EDT)
Please stop making multiple consecutive edits and not marking small edits as "minor". Use the "Show preview" button next to the "Save page" button to view the page first instead of going back after saving the edit to fix it multiple times. Mario JC 20:26, March 21, 2019 (EDT)
You are still doing this, after just getting off of a block for doing so. Use the show preview button to continue editing a page and cut down on the consecutive edits, or else you will be blocked again. 13:03, April 7, 2019 (EDT)
Reverting edits[edit]
If you see an edit of yours that was removed, don't add it back in again; check the history page first (found by clicking the "history" tab at the top of the article), as it may have been reverted for a reason. The caption here is too big to fit into the small frame, and the image is next to the section of the game it's from, so the caption is not needed. Mario JC 00:04, March 22, 2019 (EDT)
This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (edit warring) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site. If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
You have been continuing to edit war on the Mario article after Mario jc informally reminded you not to above. Continue and you may face a last warning. (T|C) 12:40, March 23, 2019 (EDT)
- Additionally, if you want to test wiki coding, do it on MarioWiki:Sandbox rather than mainspace articles. 13:05, March 23, 2019 (EDT)
This last warning has been overturned by the MarioWiki staff. The original warning can still be viewed. | |

This is your last warning. The next time you break the rules in any way, you will be blocked from editing the Super Mario Wiki. If you feel this last warning was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
You are continuing to edit war. If you feel like a change should be made that is reverted, instead of edit warring you should discuss it with the user who reverted your edits or on the page's talk page. Doomhiker (talk) 17:21, March 23, 2019 (EDT)
- Nope. 17:25, March 23, 2019 (EDT)
This is your last warning. The next time you break the rules in any way, you will be blocked from editing the Super Mario Wiki. If you feel this last warning was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
Now the last warning is valid. Continuing to add back your reverted edits will result in a block. 20:41, March 23, 2019 (EDT)
- This warning will go for the random coding you're adding to articles as well. Please use the sandbox I linked to above to test stuff like that. 21:12, March 23, 2019 (EDT)
Image category[edit]
Hello, SuperMarioKid. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: or Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Please remember to categorise your uploads with one of the categories found through the links above. For images relating to Super Mario RPG, you add
to the summary. You should give your files a more descriptive name as well instead of simply using the default file name.
Also, can you provide a source for the Chewy artwork? Mario JC 22:37, May 9, 2019 (EDT)
Show preview[edit]
This shouldn't be repeated. Please use the "Show preview" button. Mario JC 00:10, May 10, 2019 (EDT)
RE: Uploading files[edit]
If you're uploading a new version of an existing file, you need to press CTRL + F5 on the file page or clear your browser's cache to see the changes. Mario JC 21:27, August 11, 2019 (EDT)
File:SMG YellowLuma.jpg[edit]
The version you're reverting to has more white space and worse quality, so there is no reason to keep doing that, especially without providing a reason.
Also, please avoid this kind of padding (e.g. The Wii game, Super Mario Galaxy). It's not making "more sense", it's just changing the info to say the same thing but with different words. You've already been told about unnecessarily changing the wording of sentences in articles. Mario JC 01:55, August 16, 2019 (EDT)
