Talk:Goombeetle
Shouldn't this be merged wth Goomba? Like the Pumpkin Head article, it's just a Goomba wearing an object on its head for proection... Mr. Guy the Guy Talk!
- Nah. You can tell they have a different physical appearance (Their eyes are Yellow and they lack the pointy fangs), and unlike the Pumpkin Heads, you can't remove their protections and turn them into normal Goomba. -Blitzwing (talk · gnome work)
Why ASTRO Goomba? That Astro comes from astronaut, and Astronauts wear helmets WITH A WINDOW. And these ones without. And, there are already Goomba's in space without helmets. Do you see something with a helmet besides this one? NO. I think the armor helmet of this goomba is just for protection. rend (talk) (edits)
I think this shouldn't be merged with Goomba, since it's face has a different appearance, and if it's not a Goomba, why should it be named Astro Goomba? Also, why should it be named Astro at all? It only has a helmet, nothing suggesting it would be anything astro. Maybe helmet goomba or something else with helmet in it should be the title? Young Master Luma 19:00, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Conjectural name?
Why does the article have a conjectural name when there at least three official names in other languages (according to the list) and even the (English) Prima guide named them? --Grandy02 12:23, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

No offense to anyone, but I find this pretty dumb. The Prima official guide calls them Metallic Goombas, yet we still have them listed as Astro Goombas. The Prima guides give them an official name, so I propose we move Astro Goomba to Metallic Goomba.

Move to Metallic Goomba
- Bowser's luma (talk) Per me.
Keep at Astro Goomba
Comments
If the Prima official guide says they are Metalic goombas, they are metallic goombas. This should not even require a proposal. Marioguy1 (talk)
- Agreed: I'm pretty sure the Super Mario Galaxy guide came out after Nintendo Power officially partnered with Prima Guides, so it's okay as far as our naming policy goes, and even if it wasn't as official as we'd like, it's not like we'd be overriding a better English name to use it, or something... - Walkazo 02:39, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
No need for a proposal then.--Knife (talk) 03:03, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Hello,i dont know where the name "metallic goomba" came from, but their not called that,in the prima official super mario galaxy 2 guide theyre called Goombeetles.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yoshiyoshiyoshi (talk).
This is not called "metallic goomba"
in the ENEMY SECTION of the official super mario galaxy 2 game guide, they are called Goombeetles,so thats what their name should be,metallic goomba isnt even an official name

Name
What is the official name of this thing?Prima has called them severalthings. But in the enemy section of super Mario galaxy 2,they are called Goombeetles.I think they should be called that.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Yoshiyoshiyoshi (talk).
Perhaps we should have gotten this in the first place, but can you get a scan proving your claim that this should be named Goombeetle? I can just as easily say that this is called Helmet Goomba without proof. If this thing really is called a Goombeetle in the enemies section of Prima, I suppose that would be the correct name.--Knife (talk) 23:47, 27 April 2011 (EDT)
Well anyone got some proof?Iknow its called that..yoshiyoshiyoshi (talk)
You can't move the page without providing some kind of proof or without other users' approval.--Knife (talk) 20:16, 29 April 2011 (EDT)
But in my SMG2 Guide, They're called Goombeetles. Shouldn't we mention its SMG2 name? BoygeyPumpkineer
Is the guide from Prima?--Knife (talk) 16:04, 5 June 2011 (EDT)
I'm pretty sure it is. :) BoygeyPumpkineer
BTW, Here's proof. :) File:GoombeetleProof.JPG BoygeyPumpkineer
The name has to come from an official Nintendo source. Otherwise, it's not an official name. Prima is NOT an official Nintendo source, last I've checked. M&SG (talk) 23:14, 6 June 2011 (EDT)
i thought it was or at least anything after 2007 i believe is Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
Yeah according to this [[1]] that Prima guide is official Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
Someone should have the official Nintendo Player's Guide for Super Mario Galaxy 2, just to be sure. Of course, I don't know if one even exists. M&SG (talk) 07:36, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
Well it is a Prima OFFICIAL Gaming Guide. And on the front cover had the Official Nintendo Seal. :) BoygeyPumpkineer
You mean the one from Nintendo power i think they quit doing those but anyway Prima is official so i guess Goombeetles is the correct name Goomba's Shoe15 (talk)
In the guide if you go to Upside Dizzy's page the Green Stars are in the wrong spot. Green Star 1 is in the spot of Green Star 2 and Green Star 2 is at the end of the level. Official things always has the right information. I agree with M&SG but we have to go with the name Goombeetle because those other names didn't have some kind of source.YoshiGo99
Rename to Octobeetle?
I saw a video about the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Prima guide, and it calls them Octobeetles. Here's the redirect: (cur | prev) 23:45, June 29, 2016 The RPG Gamer (talk | contribs) . . (24 bytes) (+24) . . (Check the Super Mario Galaxy 2 Prima guide) Should it be moved to Octobeetle, given that it is the most recent name? -- FanOfYoshi 11:32, April 7, 2019 (EDT)
- Both names seem to come from the same guide, so Octobeetle can just be added to the page. 12:19, April 7, 2019 (EDT)
Goombeetles are goomba/buzzy beetle hybrids
You see: Goombeetles have the eyes if Buzzy Beetles, have helmets that resembles a Buzzy Beetle's shell. Even Thier name derives from buzzy beetles, so I'll be editing to prove that Goombeetles are hybrids between Goombas and buzzy beetles. 185.69.145.70 08:03, July 13, 2024 (EDT)
- This will need further proof. Buzzy Beetles don't appear in the Galaxy games, red eyes is a very common trait and the helmets don't look that similar to me. The actual body structure of the enemy is clearly that of a Goomba with no actual resemblence of a Buzzy Beetle. Nightwicked Bowser 08:58, July 13, 2024 (EDT)
Don't you see goggle? Sure the helmets a different colour but it like a gray Buzzy Shell, just because Buzzy Beetles don't appear in the galaxy games doesn't mean their not a variant of it, ya know. 185.69.145.70 09:41, July 13, 2024 (EDT)
- This is all based on assumptions though, and the resemblence is a subjective case. An official source in the article describes them as "robotic Goombas" with no mention of Buzzy Beetles at all. Unless an official source does make a clear connection, I'm not buying it. Nightwicked Bowser 09:47, July 13, 2024 (EDT)
- Doesn't the Japanese name make an allusion to Buzzy Beetle? -- FanOfYoshi 09:55, July 13, 2024 (EDT)
- It makes an allusion to helmets, not necessarily to Buzzy Beetles. Blinker (talk) 11:48, July 13, 2024 (EDT)
- I see the resemblance, and from the screenshot provided it does resemble a Buzzy Beetle, but the helmet being metal and having paneling (which gives the Goomba an appearance of wearing a helmet, not a shell at all; it's not even a metallic blue) makes me pause somewhat in concluding this is a Buzzy Beetle variant. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 12:19, July 13, 2024 (EDT)
- There's definitely inspiration, but calling them "hybrids" is just silly when it's a standard helmet, for the reasons Mario said above. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:40, July 13, 2024 (EDT)
- Come on, dude, Goombeetles have red eyes, a similar shaped helmet and the name Beetle is also in Goombeetles name and I know Goombeetles Japanese name makes an allusion to helmets rather than Buzzy Beetles, but Buzzy Beetles Japanese name also makes an allusion to helmets too! ..... maybe i got carried away....but still!
The preceding unsigned comment was added by 31.127.147.101 (talk).- Wearing a hat resembling another creature doesn't turn you into a hybrid. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:28, September 5, 2024 (EDT)
- It makes an allusion to helmets, not necessarily to Buzzy Beetles. Blinker (talk) 11:48, July 13, 2024 (EDT)

You do realise Goombeetle has the name, Beetle in it?
The preceding unsigned comment was added by 31.127.147.101 (talk).
- Beetles are real-life insects, the name didn't originate with Buzzy Beetle. Nightwicked Bowser 14:28, September 6, 2024 (EDT)
You know what I meant.
