About the notice at the top[edit]
Not the upcoming notice, the one that says ""The Origami King" redirects here. For information about the eponymous villain, see King Olly." Should that be a disambig? (Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, I'm just not sure what the place to ask would be) PinkYoshiFan 11:59, May 18, 2020 (EDT)
- "The Origami King" is more likely to refer to the game as it is visibly attached to it. King Olly is just King Olly, with The Origami King being a second name he goes by. A disambig may happen later, but for now, it works as it is. 12:02, May 18, 2020 (EDT)
Korean title romanization[edit]
It's not "Peipeo Malio Jongijeobgi King". It should be "Peipeo Mario Jong-ijeopgi King". The reason I'm saying this here is because I can't edit the main page. --GarfLarf (talk) 22:19, June 8, 2020 (EDT)
- You should probably be able to edit the page now. Wait... do you mean the Main page or the Names in other languages section? DarkNight (talk) 13:54, June 19, 2020 (EDT)
Chargin' Chuck?[edit]
I have watched the trailers a few times already, but where exactly do Chargin' Chucks appear? I had difficulty navigating the websites so I don't know if they're on there. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 17:10, June 12, 2020 (EDT)
- One can be seen in the corner of this artwork that is found on the North American website for the game. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 17:17, June 12, 2020 (EDT)
- A few are found in the Spa of Purification in Shangri-Spa. I don't know any other places where Chargin' Chucks are seen. Chompers 1:37, August 14, 2020 (EDT)
- Not to be rude, but this discussion was from a month before the game came out. Nightwicked Bowser
So, what about the leaked plot?[edit]
Should we add content about the plot now that the game has been leaked? - AwdryFan1997 (talk) 09:05, July 13, 2020 (EDT)
Ice Vellumental[edit]
So I just watch all the velluemntals boss battles and for some reason this pages says that the ice velumental is a tiger when clearly it looks like a polar bear and the toad crowd mention it as a polar bear I dont know if the japanes version names it as a tiger but in the english it shows it as a polar bear
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 177.247.100.89 (talk).
- I'm not familiar with the in-game details, but it may be inspired by the Byakko, which is a mythical white tiger. MarioComix (talk) 19:30, July 16, 2020 (EDT)
- Yeah that was me who put that there. It reminds me how the Japanese Mario releases doesn't call Mario's "tail form" (called Tail Mario in Japanese releases of Mario games featuring that) form "Raccoon Mario" which is in the English release. However I would like to know if he is a white tigeer in the Japanese version or still a polar bear? --KingGeoshiKoopshi64 (talk) 23:46, July 17, 2020 (EDT)
Trivia[edit]
Please mention that this is the first Mario RPG game where you don't fight Bowser whatsoever.
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by 108.81.76.152 (talk).
- There is no differences section yet, but once that's made, that should be added. 20:44, July 17, 2020 (EDT)
References[edit]
Since the game is already out, do we really need most of these references, including the ones related to PMOK? DarkNight (talk) 23:44, July 17, 2020 (EDT)
- The game just came out today (in my time, anyway), so we usually leave the references up for about as long as we leave the New subject template up. 23:51, July 17, 2020 (EDT)
- Ok, I'm WST. DarkNight (talk) 23:54, July 17, 2020 (EDT)
Bestriary[edit]
Is there any telling of when enemy stats of this game will be added on here? I know it may be a while, but how long does it normally take? Keyblade Master (talk) 19:58, July 19, 2020 (EDT)
- The game just came out, but someone would have to dedicate themselves to diving into the game files and compiling everything in a way that is viewable on the wiki. 20:02, July 19, 2020 (EDT)
- Wow it's been awhile since I've been on, but with the release of Origami King, I may dedicate myself to organizing information for the bestiary. Maybe. I've got the time to do it, but motivation is another thing. I'll see how things go and start jotting down enemy types, where they appear, possible health range (until something more official is discovered), and other details that I can observe. Just started playing. 16:09, August 29, 2020 (EDT)
- Hey, glad to see you back, man ^^ 20:40, August 29, 2020 (EDT)
- Hey! I'm almost done with the red streamer and so far I'm getting some good ideas on the HP for enemies, narrowing it down through trial and error. So far I've got exact numbers on Swoop, Shy Guy, Paragoomba, and Koopa Troopa. Others I only have a range for. For example, Goomba's can be KO'd at 6 dmg, but so far that's the lowest amount of damage I've been able to deal. I'm also keeping a table on weapons durability, accessories, items, useful items, and all the stuff in the museum. Some of these are already represented in the PMOK related articles, but I feel some may not have all the neccessary info. 19:35, August 30, 2020 (EDT)

Genre[edit]

Bestiary Table[edit]
Mind if I turn the enemy bestiary into a table? I feel that it would compact the article, in terms of length, greatly since some enemies appear for more than one streamer.

Question about the References to other games section[edit]
As I was playing through the area of the game featuring the boat Princess Peach, I came across something that could be a TTYD reference. If you press "A" to Check the steering wheel of the ship Bobby says something along the lines of thinking he could be an admiral. Would this qualify as an Easter egg or reference as long as I can find the full quote?
- That sounds like it could be a reference to Admiral Bobbery, but best find the full quote. MarioComix (talk) 22:00, July 25, 2020 (EDT)
More Glitches[edit]
This video [1] showcases a number of glitches that we should add to the main page. Don 08:04, July 26, 2020 (EDT)
Maps[edit]
I'm currently working on 100% the game, and I'd be more than willing to share some completed maps of all locations. I can't set them up so that people can click on a location and be sent to that location's page though, is there anyone who knows how to do that? --Modderkin64 (talk) 13:24, July 28, 2020 (EDT)
- About a week ago I uploaded the maps and made them all into image maps (where you can click on the location and go to that page), although I'm not sure how they should be integrated. I'll just leave a link to them for someone else to add them. User:Eldritchdraaks/sandbox#PMTOK_Maps.-- 12:00, October 10, 2020 (EDT)
- I’m thinking to put them in for which streamer area they are in. For example, the yellow streamer map would go on area articles for Scorching Sandpaper Desert and its surrounding areas. Nightwicked Bowser
Re-used designs and how to consider them[edit]
So, since this game re-uses multiple character designs from Color Splash, how should we deal with them? Consider them different or the same?
- Sunset Express conductor:
- CS: Train conductor of the Sunset Express
- TOK: Owner of Toad's Automoboots. Installs the boat motor and sells Boot Cars
- Lighthouse keeper: (this one has a proposal)
- CS: Stays on the lighthouse of Lighthouse Island, likes disco
- TOK: DJ in the Temple of Shrooms, likes disco
- Mustard Café chef:
- CS: Owner of the Mustard Café, shown to be very lazy and talks in a relaxed manner
- TOK: Curator of the Earth Vellumental Temple, wants Mario to find the other staff of the exhibit
- Tangerino Grill Chef:
- CS: Injured chef of the Tangerino Grill
- TOK: Chef of the Open-Air Cafe at Overlook Tower
- Princess
- CS: Chain Chomp enchanted by Kamek to grow huge and monstrous. Owned by a yellow Toad. Appears in pictures as a normal Chain Chomp with a bow.
- TOK: Small, generic Chain Chomp at the Shogun Studios petting zoo. Still tamed with a Bone, like in CS.
- Rescue Squad:
- CS: Group of captains and cadets.
- TOK: Need to be arranged in The Ringer and Speed Rings, only the captain designs this time
- Slurp Guy:
- CS: Shy Guy with a paper straw, generic enemy
- TOK: Singular NPC with a 3D straw item. Goes unnamed.
- Whistle Snifit:
- CS: Named enemy that summons other enemies in battle
- TOK: Two unnamed characters that appear identical. Pink variants, even though pink is the only Snifit color to not have a Whistle Snifit variant in CS. Scrooge200 (talk) 21:09, July 29, 2020 (EDT)
- Doesn't the lighthouse keeper/DJ Toad proposal already cover all of them? (Or at least the Toads?) -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 21:12, July 29, 2020 (EDT)
- Seems to just be the Toads. Princess, Slurp Guy, and Whistle Snifit need agreements. Scrooge200 (talk) 21:32, July 29, 2020 (EDT)
As the one who started that proposal, I am applying it to the other Toads as well. Nightwicked Bowser
option(al) items[edit]
what should be done about the timer extender and puzzle solver? where should they go? even though they're just options they are given out as items as well as having models for them. kind of a curious situation we got herePikmin theories (talk) 01:19, August 5, 2020 (EDT)
Regarding the VIP pass glitch[edit]
The glitch was fixed as of this recent patch. Could someone add a note of that in the article itself? It's semiprotected and I'm not autoconfirmed in this wiki yet, so I can't add it myself. Thanks in advance. Gigi (talk) 09:35, August 6, 2020 (EDT)
- Hi, I noted that it was patched out. MarioComix (talk) 17:27, August 6, 2020 (EDT)
Parakarry reference[edit]
As you already know, enemies have names For their attacks which already reference certain things like Goombas having “headbonk”s but I notice that Paratroopa’s have a dive kick attack, different from a shell shot, which to my knowledge was only ever done by Parakarry in Paper Mario 64, every other time was a dive inside their shells. Should update the “references to other games” in the Paper Mario 64 section if you guys agree.

Partner table[edit]
I'm thinking of working on a table for the partners to put under the "characters" section and replace the mini gallery there, and I have these parameters planned (besides the usual "image" and "name" of course):
- Attack name
- Attack power (normally/with the Ally Tambourine equipped)
- Attack range (which formation they can attack, e.g for Bob-omb this would be "one enemy")
- Availability (describe when the partner joins and departs, and note other significant times the partner is unavailable e.g Bob-omb doesn't go into the Vellumental areas)
There are a few things to discuss about this, like if the "primary" and "temporary" sections should be merged together, or if partners that don't help in battle at all like Luigi should be excluded. Nightwicked Bowser
- I have completed the table in a "notes" app on my iPad, and I have previewed it here and it is ready to go in. It is like how I described it. I should mention I have kind of merged the "primary" and "temporary" sections together, and I have not included partners who don't fight at all. However, I would like someone to help me decide how this should be implemented. Nightwicked Bowser
- Include them in a separate table, I'd say. I'm kind of unsure, but it seems more efficient to split them. Scrooge200 (talk) 21:27, October 13, 2020 (EDT)
Possible GBA Reference[edit]
While I was watching a video in Spanish about trivia related to the Super Mario series, I realized a possible reference to Mario Party Advance: in the video, they mentioned that the reference is about the name of Shroom City (or if you prefer, Snif City) and how to get there. In the GBA game, the Story Mode gets you to travel to a city, called Shroom City via a boot-like automobile, just like in Paper Mario for Switch. Is that enough to add that into the "References to other games" section? If it is, can it be added?
--LEGOGames1000 (talk) 12:48, March 15, 2021 (EDT)
- Two things can unintentionally share the same name, especially a name like "Shroom City". It's most likely just a coincidence. Mario JC 23:51, March 15, 2021 (EDT)
Media list[edit]
This talk page or section has a conflict or question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment. |
Is it okay to just link to Musee Champignon for the media list? Or should we give the game its own media list? There are some tracks I want to upload, such as the "item collected" jingle and the Ring Trainer battle theme, that aren't in the museum sound gallery. Scrooge200 (talk) 22:42, May 11, 2021 (EDT)
Notable mistakes and errors[edit]
This talk page or section has a conflict or question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment. |
Would it be okay to create such a section on this game page, or is it kind of an antiquated practice (I'm afraid it could attract complaining)? It's on articles such as Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Super Mario Bros. 2, and Mario's Early Years! Fun with Letters. I've found a few typos, such as Olivia referring to the Sea Chart as a "See Chart", an improperly capitalized instance of "it", numerous spelling errors in the museum descriptions, Luigi's hat being mirrored at one point, and the claim that Nipper Plants can spit fire when they actually can't in this game. Scrooge200 (talk) 16:16, May 29, 2021 (EDT)
- The See Chart one might have been intentional considering Olivia's personality, and immediately follows up with her saying "it was hard to understand anything he (Captain T. Ode) said". If the section does get created, there should probably be some kind of disclaimer saying that this is the sort of thing the section is for. Nightwicked Bowser 16:41, May 29, 2021 (EDT)
- The exact line is "Oh. OK. So...do we think he's going to give us the See Chart, or... It was hard for me to understand anything he was saying. I guess that's ancient language for you!" Considering that she isn't corrected and does separately refer to it as the "sea chart" multiple times ("But I do want to ask you about something called a sea chart!"; "Mainly we just need the sea chart!"), it feels a bit ambiguous. I guess I could lean into it being a joke rather than an error. Still, the rest stands. Also, I noticed that the Paper Macho Buzzy Beetle description thinks it's the Paper Mistake but without the armor, which isn't accurate since it appears as a species, individually from Paper Mistake, on Scuffle Island. Scrooge200 (talk) 17:06, May 29, 2021 (EDT)
- Most of the descriptions for Paper Macho enemies do seem to be based on a specific one (such as the Paper Macho Koopa Troopa's description only talking about the one sleeping in Shogun Studios). However, the main problem with the Paper Macho Buzzy Beetle one is that it can be obtained way before fighting the Paper Mistake (and is right in the middle of a mandatory path), effectively spoiling what happens at the end of the green streamer before clearing the purple streamer. Nightwicked Bowser 17:27, May 29, 2021 (EDT)

The fishing spots[edit]
So, those fishing spots where you can catch Cheep Cheeps and Bloopers... I can't seem to find an article on them, and when I finally managed to, it said "Page does not exist". They have enough features to deserve an article, so who's with me that we need to make one?
— The preceding unsigned comment was added by Broque (talk).
- Good page idea, go ahead and make a list of fishing spots article. Ray Trace(T|C) 14:40, June 11, 2021 (EDT)
- I've been wondering about this, and yeah, they can have a page. I don't think it needs to be a list, since there's only three: something like Prisma Café would work. Scrooge200 (talk) 15:04, June 11, 2021 (EDT)

Item descriptions[edit]
This talk page or section has a conflict or question that needs to be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment. |
I want to make a table for the weapons, but I think descriptions such as "a strong hammer", "a stronger hammer", "the strongest hammer" would get repetitive. Should we go with the in-game descriptions? This wouldn't be consistent with the Useful Items section, though. Scrooge200 (talk) 16:08, July 16, 2021 (EDT)
Sun Incense[edit]
can someone added sun Incense too the Useful Items?

Unused Battle Lab Rematches[edit]
Recent research into the links between areas in Paper Mario: The Origami King revealed that the Battle Lab has unused rematches against minor Paper Macho events. Specifically:
"W1G1_BattleLab" > "HarikoBattleTHEATER_1F" > "W3G2_SamboArea" "W1G1_BattleLab" > "HarikoBattleTHEATER_2F" > "W3G2_SamboArea" "W1G1_BattleLab" > "HarikoBattleTHEATER_3F" > "W3G2_SamboArea" "W1G1_BattleLab" > "HarikoBattleKURB" > "W3C4_MummyKuriboArea" "W1G1_BattleLab" > "HarikoBattleHEI_BUCKET" > "W3C3_FireBucketB"
These links would transition from the Battle Lab to rematch against the Paper Macho Outlaws, Shady Paper Macho Koopas, Paper Macho Shy Guy Ballerinas, pair of Paper Macho Mummy Goombas, and 2nd group of the Paper Macho Shy Guys with buckets in the Fire Vellumental Cave, respectively.
Will all of that said, would this be worth putting in the Pre-release and unused content section of this page? Or is it more appropriate put this in just the main page of unused content? //ZAKU// (talk · edits) 13:44, July 1, 2022 (EDT)
- This would be suitable for the former, not sure what page you mean by the latter though. Nightwicked Bowser 13:46, July 1, 2022 (EDT)
- Okay. And the main page of unused content I mentioned is the List of Paper Mario: The Origami King pre-release and unused content. //ZAKU// (talk · edits) 14:02, July 1, 2022 (EDT)
Enemy attacks pages?[edit]
Considering how SMRPG's special attacks have pages, should we do something for the PMTOK's attacks too? Especially considering how many of them (like the Headbonk, Shell Shot and Flop) have appeared in other games. I dare even say that some attacks are basically identical to others that, even considering they have different names in Japanese, we could merge them (like Bomb Bump with Body Slam, Shell Shot (PMTOK) with Shell Toss, Flyin' Shell Attack with Shell Shot (PM), Flyin' Kick with Sky Dive, just to name a few: they're way too similar to differentiate them) Mariuigi Khed 04:05, August 20, 2024 (EDT)
- Thing is, in Super Mario RPG it's only special/magic attacks that have their names shown and many of them are shared with lots of other enemies/bosses, and basic attacks still go unnamed. With Origami King, it's every single enemy attack that is named including the most basic ones that are only used by one enemy each and are usually ramming/bumping into Mario, and making articles for all of those could get very excessive. Nightwicked Bowser 06:51, August 20, 2024 (EDT)
- On the very least, the most used ones? We could also regroup variant attacks (like the Headbonks) in one. Mariuigi Khed 12:36, August 20, 2024 (EDT)
- "Most used ones" and the whole regrouping thing could get arbitrary. To be honest, the only justification I'm getting out of this is the fact a name is shown for enemy attacks, whereas there was more to it with the Super Mario RPG special moves. Nightwicked Bowser 12:47, August 20, 2024 (EDT)
- By the way, we have the Japanese names for these attacks, from these three scans posted by the Monty Mole person, and they have some odd differences from the English names. For example, "Shell Shot" is actually supposed to be "Shell Toss", and "Headbalonk" uses the normal name of "Headbonk". Blinker (talk) 08:13, August 22, 2024 (EDT)
- Coming back to this discussion, using the guide scans, I compiled a table of attack names (ignoring stuff like group attacks), a while back. Interestingly, the moves "Battering Ram", "Flyin' Fish", "Flyin' Headbonk", "Blush from Above", "Blump" and "Bumble Bump" all have the same name in the Japanese version. The pun-based English names are a nice touch, but it would be so much simpler to cover them all on one page together with Belly Flop if they hadn't done that... And, just, in general, maybe it would have been more feasible to make pages for these moves. Oh well. Blinker (talk) 12:19, October 6, 2024 (EDT)
