Categories[edit]
Hello, TheMorningFlash. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: [[Category:Super Mario World images]]or [[Category:Super Mario World media files]] Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Hi there. Please remember to categorize the images you are uploading, thanks. 18:13, 7 November 2017 (EST)
- Whoop, beat me to it by a hair. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:14, 7 November 2017 (EST)
- You're still forgetting the categories for the images. For the ones you're uploading, just remove {{uncategorized}} and add the appropriate Category:Super Mario All-Stars Images subcategories like:
[[Category:Super Mario All-Stars (Super Mario Bros.) Images]] [[Category:Super Mario All-Stars (Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels) Images]]
- Yeah, I just wasn't sure how the SMAS categories were named. Update is comming. --TheMorningFlash (talk) 20:57, 8 November 2017 (EST)
Hello! Please remember the information above, as your recent Yoshi's Story images were missing the licensing and Category:Yoshi's Story Images. Please remember to categorize your files, in order to avoid possibly receiving a warning in the future for forgetting to categorize images. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 08:17, 27 November 2017 (EST)
Only one of several special cases, but box art of games have an additional category. For example, File:SMGJapanCover.jpg belongs in both Category:Wii game covers and Category:Super Mario Galaxy Images. You can find the game cover category for each system here. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 10:42, 18 January 2018 (EST)
- Hello! In the case of game covers for games found on the SNES, the correct category is Category:Super Nintendo Entertainment System game covers, instead of Category:Super NES game covers. Thanks! --TheFlameChomp (talk) 11:03, 19 January 2018 (EST)
ummm[edit]
are you Yes man it's ok if you lost your password,i just need to know. MKDSFTalk!
Nope. Never even heard of the guy. --TheMorningFlash (talk) 16:36, 8 November 2017 (EST)
Source[edit]
I don't think you're supposed to put the game title as a source, instead put the place where you got it directly, in these cases the Spriter's Resource and Models Resource. Also, hey! Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:37, 8 November 2017 (EST)
File:MK64 Mario w Koopa Shell.png[edit]
Hi. Just to let you know, converting JPGs to PNGs and applying transparency is prohibited according to policy, so if you have the original JPG image, please upload that instead. Mario JC 20:23, 20 December 2017 (EST)
Moving files[edit]
Letting you know that when you move a file, you also should mark the redirect up for deletion and change any links where necessary. You're doing fine with the later, but haven't done the former much if at all. 18:32, 30 January 2018 (EST)
Personal images[edit]
Just a heads-up that any images uploaded specifically for your userpage should be marked with {{personal-image|TheMorningFlash}}
, which have now been done for you. You're only allowed four personal images, however, so you can only upload one more unless you choose to delete some. Mario JC 20:33, 30 January 2018 (EST)
Transparency[edit]
Sorry to alert you late in the process, but please don't apply transparency to scans like the ones you've uploaded, as it leaves behind white pixels and rough edges around the artwork as shown below. You've also already been reminded that JPGs converted to PNGs and adding transparency is prohibited by policy and a passed proposal. Simply uploading the images with the backgrounds intact is fine. Mario JC 21:54, 4 February 2018 (EST)
Moving[edit]
Hi, when moving files, be sure to fix all of the links by checking Special:WhatLinksHere and then tag the file redirect for deletion by adding {{delete}} to the page. Thanks! (T|C) 17:21, 6 February 2018 (EST)
Minor edits[edit]
Hi, this is no big thing, but be sure to mark minor edits such as this one as minor, as not doing so counts as a level one offense under the warning policy. It's simple to learn how to do so: all you have to do is check the box that says "This is a minor edit" above the "Save page" button. Thanks! (T|C) 18:49, 12 February 2018 (EST)
Cropped images[edit]
Just a reminder, do not crop character artworks from cover boxes. L151
Replacements[edit]
When replacing images, please link the replacement images in {{delete}} next time (done by adding a colon before the file name: {{delete|[[:File:Example.png]]}}
); that way we can easily access the link and include it in the deletion summary. Thanks. Mario JC 03:34, 3 May 2018 (EDT)
- Also, please check if there are any pages that still link to the file (found at the bottom of the file page) before you mark it for deletion, as you've listed some of them as alternate versions of the replacement files. Mario JC 21:13, 5 May 2018 (EDT)
Textures[edit]
Please do not crop pieces of textures. It's misleading as to how the game's data works. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:57, 1 November 2018 (EDT)
- To add to this, textures and 3D objects are different. The following revisions have been reverted, so upload the textures as separate images:
