The Beacon is the large orb-shaped star that helps power the Comet Observatory. Apparently, the Lumas have a hard time surviving without it.
It first appears a tiny glowing orb, but the more Grand Stars Mario collects, the brighter and larger it becomes, therefor adding more power to the Observatory, which opens more Domes.
