Glower the Tadpole is an unplayable animal buddy who appears in Donkey Kong 64 in the Gloomy Galleon level. He's basically just like Glimmer the Anglerfish and was brought in to possibly bring more variety to animal buddies or to give an origin to Winky and other frogs. Both are most likely right seeing Rare's ways. He appears in the two sunken ships at the level. Meaning that there might be two or that the two ships are connected somehow. His name is made up of fanon as he was never given a real name or even mentioned. Whether or not he has grew into a Winky type frog or even just a grey or green recolor is unknown.
The appearance of Glower may also point to the fate of his predecessor, Glimmer, who is seen in what are likely his final moments at the hands (or teeth) of a Lockjaw on the boxart of Donkey Kong Land 2 - a game which Glimmer didn't appear in. Glimmer hasn't appeared since his possible 'death' between Donkey Kong Country 2 and Donkey Kong Land 2.
