WarioWare: D.I.Y.

Hello Garlic Man, could you help me with the (currently Japan-only) WarioWare: D.I.Y. contests? Some time ago, I was a little sloppy at adding the contests to the list, and now I have problems researching them. Okay, step by step:

  • The current contest (#16) is still available here. Is it right what I wrote in the list about "Monochrome"?
  • The 15th contest had the following description:

ただいま以下の内容でコンテストを行っています。奮ってご応募ください。第15回テーマ イラストスタンプ にんげん 内容:「おえかき」の中にある「イラストスタンプ にんげん」を使ってゲームを作ってみよう! 締切は2010/2/8まで。結果発表は2010/3/3の予定です。

What would イラストスタンプ にんげん mean translated? And what are the exact requirements?
  • Last one, the 14th contest. In this case, I don't really have a clue what it is about, and I haven't saved the description, either. I only know its name (白いもの) from Wikipedia, which seems to mean "Whiteness." But what are the requirements? Maybe this description for the downloadable winner game(s) helps:

『「白いもの」といわれてイメージするゲームを作ってみよう。もちろんほかの色もつかってOK』という内容で募集しました。

There is also a blog entry from someone: [1] (attention, it also shows one of those, er, suggestive games...)

I'd be very glad if you could help me with this issue, thanks! --Grandy02 15:43, 28 February 2010 (EST)

You are probably too busy to help me, but could you tell if you read my message? On another note, you should check two of your votes at Featured Images (Bowser Striker and The Kong Family), because you wrote "Great image" under Oppose, or was it meant ironically? ;-) --Grandy02 09:11, 12 March 2010 (EST)
No problem, thank you! :-D --Grandy02 06:20, 13 March 2010 (EST)

A quick WarioWare question again, do you have any clue who the "Big Name" Ō-chan is? A short introduction is found here, and Wikipedia states his or her occupation as "『ファミ通DS+Wii』おたよりくらぶキャラクター". I'd be glad if you could tell me, thanks. --Grandy02 14:48, 13 March 2010 (EST)

Double Redirects

Hey, when you changed your nick from Garlic Man to Marcelagus and moved all the pages, you created a few double redirects:

  • User:Super Luigi Sunshine
  • User:Super Luigi Sunshine/sig

Please change those so they redirect to User:Marcelagus as opposed to User:Garlic Man.

Peach's Final Smash

I saw that you "undid" my recent edit on the Princess Peach page in regards to Peach's final smash because the person added that Peach's adversaries are not affected if they're not on the ground when Peach unleashes her "Peach Blossom" attack. Do you have any evidence in regards to if this is really true? --M. C. - "Mario Gals" Fan! User Page | Talk Page 21:06, 5 March 2010 (EST)

Um...

You just gave me a reminder for having discussions that belong on the forums. Um... when did I do that? Sorry, I'm very confused. Fawfulfury65

Er... I was just replying to KS3's comment, sorry. Fawfulfury65

THEY is a plural pronoun.

"They" happens to be a unisexual term used for unspecified gender as a more politically correct form of "he/she" which clutters up sentences anyway.

There are no "unisexual" pronouns for he/she, actually. That's why English sucks.

Player and they do not agree in pronoun usage. Someone, everyone, etc., are singular pronouns. He and she are also singular. They, however, is a plural one.

Bottom line: They is wrong; he/she clutters writing. We should rewrite sentences so we don't have this problem.

Also, final results is double talk. Double talk includes red in color, tuna fish, square in shape, revert back, true fact, the reason is because, the reason why, may possibly, other alternative, well, you get it. Double talk makes writing sloppy and messy.

In talking, double talk is fine. In writing, it's bad.

Actually, they CAN be used as a singular pronoun. See Singular "they" and the many reasons why it's correct. I know several authorities continuously say you need to avoid it, but there's no reason really. It's funny that you even complain that "English sucks" because there's no gender-neutral singular pronoun, but when such a pronoun does evolve, you still don't accept it... Language changes. Time Questions 08:41, 5 June 2010 (EDT)
All of those sources are blogs, ideas, "they" becoming accepted, etc. I'm sorry , but a gender-neutral singular pronoun doesn't exist. All sources just show arguments about "they" becoming accepted. You say language evolves, but spoken language evolves much quicker than written. "It's me" is wrong too, you know, but it is also getting accepted into everyday speech and writing. But here, the standards want formal writing.

I've got an idea: why not rewrite sentences so we don't need to use those pronouns?

Mario (Santa)'s map icon from Mario Kart Tour Mario-HOHO! (Talk / Stalk) 23:28, 5 June 2010 (EDT)

Yes, the source was a blog. If that's not enough for you, ask any linguist, they (ha!) will say that they may be used as a gender-neutral singular pronoun (I'm studying linguistics, too). Who would know if not language experts? You simply say "this is wrong" and "that is wrong", without giving any reason whatsoever. Where do the rules come from? Language (and language rules) are made by the people, not by grammar books. If people start to use they in a singular sense, you cannot claim they all talk "wrongly", but rather the pronoun is changing its meaning. Of course this does not necessarily mean that singular they is acceptable in formal writing, but from everything I know, it is. Rewriting every such sentence seems like unnecessary work to me.
