Special Items[1] are a class of items that appear in the SNES game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its GBA port, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. Unlike standard items, they are stored for later use and can be selected for immediate use during a level via the pause menu. They can be collected by winning them in Bonus Challenges and Mini Battle Games. Up to 22 Special Items can be saved in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and up to 27 Special Items can be saved in Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3.
