Flare, originally known as Corona, is an attack most often used by boss enemies in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and its Nintendo Switch remake. When used, the enemy summons a small sun, which attacks all party members with a fiery rotating beam, dealing significant damage. In the original game, the sun and beam have a simple yellow design, whereas in the remake, they are given a more realistic appearance.

An unused Chain Saw attack used the same animation as Corona.[1]

"Corona" means "crown" in Spanish and Latin, and the corona is also the extended outer atmosphere surrounding the sun and other stars. Its renaming to Flare is instead a reference to solar flares, and may also be a reference to the Final Fantasy attack of the same name.
