A Boom Guy is a red Shy Guy that balances a Bill Blaster on top of its head. They have 18 HP total. During the events of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Boom Guys patrolled the halls of Prince Bowser's Castle. Upon spotting an intruder, a Boom Guy would fire a Bullet Bill, engaging the intruder in battle. In a fight, a Boom Guy fires Bullet Bills to attack, an attack that can be dodged by jumping. The Boom Guy may also try to fake out its opponent by firing a puff of smoke before he actually attacks However this can be predetermined by looking if he points at Mario or Luigi before attacking. If a Boom Guy is attacked enough times, his cannon will fall off, leaving him defenseless, and becoming an ordinary Shy Guy. When this happens, a Boom Guy will start to panic. Without a cannon, a Boom Guy can merely whistle for help. If heard, two Fly Guys will appear and drop another Bill Blaster on the Boom Guy's head, allowing the Boom Guy to resume the fight. If not heard, the Boom Guy will continue to panic.

A Boom Guy is a red Shy Guy in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time that balances a Bill Blaster on top of its head. Boom Guys patrol the halls of Bowser's Castle. Upon spotting their enemies in the overworld, Boom Guys fire a Bullet Bill, engaging them in battle if the projectile connects. In a fight, Boom Guys launch Bullet Bills from their Bill Blasters to attack; these Bullet Bills can be dodged by jumping. The Boom Guy may also try to fake out its opponent by firing a puff of smoke before it actually attacks. However, this can be predetermined by looking if it points at Mario or Luigi before attacking. If a Boom Guy is attacked enough times, its cannon falls off, leaving it defenseless, and causing it to become an ordinary Shy Guy. When this happens, the Boom Guy starts to panic. Without a cannon, it can only call for help. If it is heard, two Fly Guys appear and drop another Bill Blaster on the Boom Guy's head, allowing it to resume the fight. Otherwise, the Boom Guy continues to panic until its next turn.
Stronger versions of Boom Guys called Elite Boom Guys appeared in Gritzy Caves. These enemies were blue in color and attacked the same way, only their Bullet Bills fired much faster, and their Bill Blaster are more resistant.
