A category of subjects based on coleopterans in the Super Mario franchise. These are the animals called beetles, and they are characterized by hardened, modified forewings called elytra. Members include a few animals that are not always referred to as beetles in their common name, such as scarabs, lady beetles (often referred to as "ladybugs" in American English and "ladybirds" in British English), and lampyrids (fireflies and glowworms).
