"A stopper used to keep troublesome things from coming out of dangerous holes." | |
First appearance | Paper Mario: Color Splash (2016) |
The Cork is a Thing in Paper Mario: Color Splash. It is found blocking the Warp Pipe that leads to the parallel world of Vortex Island. The nearby Toad explains that the pipe has been taped to prevent accidents. As such, the player must first peel the tape to access the Cork. Next, the player must hold to collect it. Once it has been picked up, it is wrung out, refills Mario's paint, and becomes a colorless card. After it is used, it returns to its original position without the tape on it. It can also be purchased from the Wringer for 200 coins and sold as an unpainted card for 1 coin. A replica version of the Cork can be collected from the Battle Spin.
When it is used in battle, the scenery changes to a field. A barrage of corks then hits the enemies. The player can continuously press while the corks are firing to increase the damage dealt.
The Cork is mandatory for Larry's battle on the Sunset Express. After Larry uses the smoke from the train's smokestack to blind Mario, Mario must use the Cork to block the smokestack. The scenery also does not transition to the field when it is used. However, using a replica version of the Cork causes it to miss Larry. After it has landed, he jumps onto it.
The Cork can also be placed into the Prisma Museum, where it can be tested.
