You'll find my E-Gates on the way there. Don't be afraid to use them!”
Professor E. Gadd, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

E-Gates are electronic portals invented by Professor E. Gadd that appear in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. E-Gates first appear in the Secret Mine, but they have a more prominent role in the Treacherous Mansion.

E-Gates are introduced in the mission Hit Rock Bottom as a convenient way of traversing the Crossroads to reach the Skip Slope. Like many of E. Gadd's inventions in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, E-Gates contain Strobe Switches that must be flashed with the Strobulb to activate them. Only one gate must be activated for both sides of the portal to be used. When an E-Gate is activated, Luigi can transport himself between the two portals anytime he is near one when X Button is pressed. Luigi can take objects that he has vacuumed with the Poltergust 5000 (such as bulbs or buckets) through the E-Gate. This is necessary to complete the puzzles in the Treacherous Mansion.
