Summary[edit]

File information for SMB Concept art Key artwork.png
Info
Description Concept art of the key artwork that appears on the Famicom boxart of Super Mario Bros. This was captured in a 1994 episode of Capital, which focused on Nintendo's Japanese headquarters. It features very early designs of Bowser and Princess Toadstool. A bearded, mage-like figure appears in the bottom left of the image. No character like this appears in the final game, but he bares a striking resemblance to Kinoko Sennin from Super Mario Bros.: Peach-hime Kyūshutsu Dai Sakusen!, the anime movie adaptation of Super Mario Bros.
Source Isolated from footage of Les Enquetes de Capital broadcasted on M6 (circa 1992) by JesseDV on The Cutting Room Floor. Footage archived by Rétroscoring.
Artist Nintendo R&D4 (Shigeru Miyamoto et al.)
Other version(s) The final piece used on the Famicom boxart.
