Their name is a portmanteau of jab and bit, short for drill bit, and may have been intentionally set up similar to [[Snifit]]s.

Jabits (along with [[Ninja (enemy)|Ninja]]s) are the security of Smithy Gang and are usually wandering around [[Smithy]]'s [[Factory (Super Mario RPG)|Factory]]. Drill Bit was also an [[List of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars pre-release and unused content#Enemies|unused enemy]], with battle data for one to four Drill Bits, suggesting it was going to be an enemy group variant. is In addition, four [[Machine Made]] versions of these types of enemies appear when the [[Speardovich]] copies use a move called [[Multiplier!]], suggesting they may have additionally had a similar role to Speardovich's [[Mirage attack!]] in the final.
