The Ant Monsters,[1] also referred to as Macro Zone Level 1,[2] is the first level of the Macro Zone in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.
The level starts off with Mario in a massive field of grass, where he meets an ant and Goronto next to a Warp Pipe. This Warp Pipe must be entered, and it will lead to a drop filled with coins into an underground section. Upon entering this section, Mario is given two paths, one above on a set of stairs and one below on a lift. The first path leads the player into a Chikunto while the second leads to a ? Block containing a Mushroom or Fire Flower. The two paths quickly reunite, leading to a section where the player must jump between platforms over lava. A single Chikunto will block the path. After this are two lifts, with the top one leading to a ? Block containing a Mushroom or Carrot, while the bottom one allows the player to continue on with the level. After this is a small corridor followed by a Dokanto on some bricks. Past this is a little land, then an ant and a Chikunto on some bricks. After another little piece of land, a Chikunto and Goronto will be found on some bricks. Immediately following this is the Mid-Point Bell, which is followed by a lift over lava. This then leads to a little section with two ? Blocks, the leftmost containing a Mushroom or Carrot, while the rightmost contains a coin. After this is a Flimsy Lift, followed by another split path, much like the start of the level. The bottom path takes on a lift where the player must crouch under spikes. This leads to a few ? Blocks and a Chikunto, which is followed by another lift where the player must crouch under spikes. Past this is a Dokanto on some blocks which can only be broken from fireballs. Behind the Dokanto is a ? Block containing a Mushroom or Fire Flower and a Warp Pipe blocked by fireball-weakened blocks. If the player were to break these and enter the Warp Pipe, they will find themselves in a room full of coins and ? Blocks containing 1-Up Hearts. However, if the player were to take the top path, they will find an ant and a Dokanto under a Warp Pipe blocked by fireball-weakened blocks. If the player were to jump below this Warp Pipe, they will find a few Hidden Blocks, which they can use to destroy the blocks blocking the Warp Pipe. Upon entering this secret Warp Pipe, Mario will be lead back up in the grass field, where he will find an ant and a Goronto guarding the secret exit door to Secret Course 3. If the player were to ignore this Warp Pipe, they will continue onto a lift, immediately followed by the Goal.
