Madpoles are uncommon enemies that calmly swim on the water surface. If they spot [[Mario]], they swim to him, and will keep doing so if Mario dives into the water, trying to ram him. They can be defeated by any attack, with the [[Cat Mario|Cat]] and [[Fire Mario|Fire forms]] being useful against swarms of them. Madpoles appear in [[Rammerhead Reef]], [[The Bowser Express]], [[Deepwater Dungeon]], [[Sprawling Savanna Rabbit Run]], and [[Pipeline Boom Lagoon]]; in the latter level, they replace the [[Goomba]]s [[Innertube Goomba|in floaties]] and [[Cheep Cheep]]s of [[Pipeline Lagoon|the original level]].

The [[stamp]] found in Deepwater Dungeon depicts a Madpole.

In the Super Mario Mash-up in ''[[Minecraft]]'', Tadpoles are replaced by Madpoles.
