Jumping at the Plus Barrels is required to increase the onscreen timer, though Minus Barrels are hazardous because they decrease the onscreen timer instead. If the timer reaches zero, the Kongs are attacked by the [[Kackle]] pursuing them. In an earlier level, [[Rickety Race (Donkey Kong Country 2)|Rickety Race]], there is a Plus Barrel at the start, hidden below a wooden platform.
