Super Smash Bros. Melee Battle Cards is a card game given out in September of 2005 to subscribers to the Nintendo Official Magazine. The game is themed after Super Smash Bros. Melee, and features screenshots from said game on its cards. The package contains 52 "fight cards".
Details[edit]
The game features two different types of cards. One type depicts fighters appearing in the game (each of which features artwork of the character, a list of moves that the character can use, and a description for the character), while the other depicts stages appearing in the game. At the start of the game, each player gets five random fighter cards, which they are to hide from the other players.
Following this, players are to take turns picking up a random stage card, after which they are to state which of their character's moves they are going to use. Said moves function in a similar way to rock-paper-scissors, as a character's up-special beats the down-special, the down-special beats the side-special (which is listed as "left/right"), and the side-special beats the up-special. Whichever player beats another player's character via these moves wins the round and collects the cards of the other player. If the players tie, the cards are given out the following round. If a player's character is listed on the stage card, that player instantly wins the round. Whichever player has the most cards after five rounds wins.
