Split Super Mario 64 (and DS) with Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World

Two things:

1. Is the Super Mario 64 ring even called a Coin Ring? I think it should be called Water Ring because it comes from a Manta and the jet stream underwater (as {{conjecture}} if no source confirming the name is found)
2. The coin rings in SM64 operate very differently than the coin rings in 3D Land and 3D World. The SM64 coin ring gives no coins but rather air and a secret number to get a Power Star while 3D Land and 3D World give the player 5 coins.

I propose a split, but I give you two options to work with along with an oppose vote.

SM64DS Prima pocket guide: "You have to swim through five of the rings it trails behind it [the Manta] in a row."
SM3DL Prima eGuide: "Many levels contain large golden rings called coin rings. These are typically used to mark suggested paths. Pass through a coin ring to collect five coins"
SM3DW Prima eGuide: "Step through a Gold Ring to instantly snag three Coins without having to worry about a time limit at all."

I asked LTL, who owns the Nintendo Power SM64 guide, and in short, the guide uses "ring" and "bubble ring" interchangeably. Perhaps "Bubble Ring" could be used as a name? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 18:30, 1 October 2016 (EDT)

"Manta Ring" is not the best name for these rings. In Dire, Dire Docks, a jet stream spews out several of these rings. It would be better to call these "Water Rings" and use {{about}} template to help readers guide to the appropriate ring. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 14:17, 29 September 2016 (EDT)

What's funny was that right at the article's creation, which was before the 3D Terraqueous Macrocosm games, it was still called "Coin Ring". Perhaps it was given this name because it grants one wedge of health like a coin? It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 22:28, 30 September 2016 (EDT)

Huh. I was just playing through Dire, Dire Docks earlier. Only rarely did it recover my health (must've been a glitch or something, idk).

Also, it seems a sign in Wet-Dry World mentions the Coin Rings by name? Or is it referring to something else? I have not made it to that course in my current playthrough yet, so I can't check... 22:36, 30 September 2016 (EDT)

"If you pass through a coin ring or find a secret point in a course, sometimes a red number will appear. If you trigger five red numbers, a Secret Star will show up." from a sign near the hole that leads to the underwater city. I hope this helps. Also, this could refer to any coin ring of 8 (or 9). PS. Wait... I just read that sign in Dire, Dire Docks. On the boardwalk. In the 64 version. Hm... Perhaps it was supposed to give a coin or something, but was scrapped? Either way, the games are essentially giving it an official name, however wrong it may be. 22:58, 30 September 2016 (EDT)

So what I am getting at is that there was a misconception about a coin pattern representing a ring and a ring underwater in Dire, Dire Docks being referenced as the same thing with something written on a few signs about secret numbers in other places? Odyssey's Coin Ring

Doesn't Super Mario Odyssey's coin ring award 10 coins?
