Considering the amount of variance DK Island has, I fail to see why this should be treated any differently. Yes, in DK64, it's a completely mechanical vehicle, but SSBU merges the design to an actual geological formation. On that note, we don't treat Bowser's Castle differently across games (barring stage articles), and it's been treated as a mobile weapon on occasion as well.

If it only had one name for Donkey Kong 64, I'd probably be for it, but it has multiple, and "Crocodile Isle" just happens to be the one with the highest priority. This part of the series is also kind of weird since we're suddenly supposed to believe that Cranky is DK's father and that the Golden Bananas were always there all along as part of the banana hoard. If anything, this should merge with Blast-o-Matic,
which Super Smash Bros. seems to take as the name of the island too.

@LinkTheLefty: While I'm not ready to jump on the support bandwagon just yet, I don't agree with your arguments. Crocodile Isle doesn't "just happen" to be the name with the highest priority, it comes from the game's manual, which we consider comparable to in-game names as far as priority is concerned. The other names all come from strategy guides, which are secondary sources. Since they contradict a primary source, they should not be considered a factor in this at all. If "Crocodile Isle" were also a guide name, I would understand, but it isn't. We certainly shouldn't merge this with Blast-o-Matic; the SSBU spirit clearly just uses a render of the island as its image for convenience, since no official artwork of the weapon itself exists, and merging things purely because of Smash wouldn't sit well with me anyway. 13:18, March 20, 2022 (EDT)
- I seem to recall a Sakurai presentation where he referred to the island itself as the Blast-o-Matic, but I can't find what I'm looking for right now, and in fact, one of the in-game tips simply refers to it as the "island fortress" that the Blast-o-Matic is on. Still, I stand by the primary name being emblematic of the inconsistencies that surfaced during this specific period. If you're going by the manual names, you can also refer to manual descriptions. Page 20 of the Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest manual, under "The Legend of Crocodile Isle": "As the home port of Kaptain K. Rool’s cutthroat pirates, Crocodile Isle is teeming with all types of Kremings. There’s even more variety of terrain on this island than there was in Donkey Kong Country. And K. Rool definitely has the home turf advantage here." Page 29 of the Donkey Kong 64 manual, under "The Islands": "The once idyllic Kong Isle now has an unpleasant neighbor in the form of K. Rool’s massive mechanical Crocodile Isle. This monstrosity towers over our homeland, with the ridiculously-named Blast-o-Matic device ready to reduce it to rubble. Between them, these two contrasting islands conceal the entrances to all the levels." Already there's a strong implication that the former is the Kremlings' natural homeland, and that the latter is an artificial one that K. Rool had built. - Think of it this way: the current situation is akin to the split of Mario vs. Donkey Kong's mechanical enemies from their original organic counterparts (except there's more of a grounds to re-merge those if it was really desired, as they're closer as copies than the Crocodile Isles). - Bowser's Castle has had more iterations than anyone can count, including a floating island, a flying fortress, a tower, a pinball board, etc., and it's pretty clear that they aren't all the exact same place.
