Move to History of Princess Daisy[edit]

Mario, Luigi and Bowser's film variants have been moved to their history pages, should this be the same for Daisy? User:Starluxe 16:29, 28 June, 2024

As I already stated in this proposal, this Daisy character is actually the film's iteration of Peach, being the daughter of the (good) king of Dinohattan, and fills in the typical damsel in distress role that Peach normally fulfills; with the only similarity to the Daisy we know and love being that she's Luigi's love interest instead of Mario's (which at this point in time was only hinted at in NES Open Tournament Golf anyway). She was also named Hildy (or Heidi or whatever) in previous concepts for the film, and I can assure you that if she weren't renamed to Daisy in the final version, many would argue to merge it with History of Princess Peach. This proposal is also why we have separate articles for Toad (film character), Iggy (film character), Spike (film character), and Big Bertha (film character) as well: much like Daisy, these characters also vary wildly from their original game namesakes. Identifier[edit]

Prize Block from Super Mario World This talk page or section has a conflict or question that must be answered. Please try to help and resolve the issue by leaving a comment.

Come to think of it, why is the identifier on these pages "(film character)"? It's inconsistent with other identifiers and is also not super clear since this isn't the only film in the franchise and it seems we'll only be getting more as time goes on. If, say, Daisy ends up appearing in a future animated film, "(film character)" will no longer be a sufficient distinction for this page. The identifier policies would suggest using something like "(Super Mario Bros. film)", which would probably help make it more clear. (You could argue that this proposal suggests we should just use "(Super Mario Bros.)" as the identifier, but that is probably unwise if we're trying to reduce confusion.) I agree that we should probably readdress these identifiers at some point, but for the moment I think the argument made on Spike (film character)'s talk page would apply to this one.
"The other character named [Daisy] is not a "film character", [she] is a character who is in a film. The current title is not ambiguous." Wandering Poplin (talk) 01:17, March 7, 2026 (UTC)
"Film character" and "character who is in a film" can mean the same thing, so it is ambiguous. Hewer (talk · contributions · edit count) 09:46, May 1, 2026 (UTC)
I don't have an opinion either way, but it should be consistent for all characters who appear in the film. If President Koopa does not have his own article and is merged with Bowser, Daisy (1993) should be merged with Daisy (game). Looking into it more, according to this proposal, it was decided to keep Toad, Daisy, and Iggy separate. Kinda weird, but whatever. Seems like I also misunderstood the question Hewer was asking as they were specifically referring to the article's title. ...There is no "Daisy (game)." If you meant to say that we should merge this page into the article for the "normal" Daisy, the discussion above this one partly addresses why we cannot do so. Wandering Poplin (talk) 05:22, May 7, 2026 (UTC)
I meant it as a descriptor, not a literal article title, and yeah, I said it was already decided to not merge them in the message you're replying to. @Hewer Would you also apply this logic to Spike (film character)? There are several different characters in this series named "Spike", and two notable ones have both appeared in a film by now. Wandering Poplin (talk) 05:22, May 7, 2026 (UTC)

Yeah, I'm saying we should retire the "(film character)" identifier as a whole and replace it with something like "(Super Mario Bros. film)". I just used Daisy as an example since I thought she was the likeliest one to make an appearance in the animated movies (and what do you know, she did). So we're clear, here's the full list of pages using the identifier that I want to change: Daisy (film character), Toad (film character), Iggy (film character), Spike (film character), Big Bertha (film character), King (film character), and Angelica (film character).
