Super Mario Land 3[edit]
In Syrup Castle of the original Wario Land, there are axe/blade objects that hang from low ceilings and require crawling while big or a Jet Wario blast to pass through. They look an awful lot like the Wario Land II interpretation of yari, except they're shorter and don't extend in any practical way, just as an aesthetic part of the animation. - They seem to have different behavior though and require different means to evade. The yaris are skewer-like things; the one in the original Wario Land are just dangling blades it seems.

- If not here, where would be a good place to cover it? Personally, it makes a bit more sense for them to appear three games in a row than for Wario Land II to make a random callback to Super Mario Land 2, and those appearances already have their own differences.
