Director Notes

Hey guys! Today is the Shroom’s 50th issue! :O
I would like to thank everyone who added the extra time and effort in their sections for the 50th issue. I would also like to thank Edofenrir (talk) for his help and contributions to this month’s issue. Surprisingly, considering how lazy I am, I decided to do some fun sections as well. Can you solve all the puzzles and games without cheating? :o
Mystery Images
By Tucayo (talk)
Hello awesome readers! I am your also-awesome writer, Tucayo! I have some issues I would like to address this month too. First of all, I want to thank everyone for their undying support towards me and the Mystery Images section. Why am I thanking you now? Well, because 3 years ago (May 8th) I signed up for this section, and since then I have gladly brought it to you for 36 consecutive issues. Thanks. And the other thing is a small apology, because my Paint acted weird and didn’t let me remove transparency from image 2 and on. Oh, almost forgot to mention this… This month we have 10 Mystery Images to celebrate the 50th Issue of the Super Mario Wiki’s ’Shroom!

Trivia
by Mario Fan 123 (talk)
Hello again, dear readers! This issue, we are celebrating The Shroom’s 50th birthday, yippee! It’s an honor to contribute on this lovely day. Now, to the trivia, this time in 10 parts instead of 5!
Did you know that…
- …Octolots may be inspired by Octoroks, a common enemy in the The Legend of Zelda series?
- …The way Squiddicus from Donkey Kong Country Returns destroys the ship in the background is similar to how ships were sunk by the mythological sea creature, the Kraken (who resembles a giant squid)?
- …The name of Spud from Super Mario Bros. 2 comes from a nickname for the potato?
- …In the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64, Luigi, Toad, Peach, and Wario have different voice-overs than their American counterparts, while other characters do not. The Japanese voice-overs were used in Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
- …Nep-Enut is an anagram of “Neptune”, the Roman god of the sea?
- …Although TEC from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is mechanical and therefore has no biological sex, male pronouns are often applied to him? As a matter of fact, TEC even experienced love from a traditionally male point of view.
- …Honey Shrooms from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door are Lahla’s favorite food?
- …The Rogueport Direct Mail Service is similar, in a sense, to the Delfino Emergency Broadcast System that appeared in Super Mario Sunshine?
- …Yoshi's Story is notable for being one of the very few Yoshi games to not involve Mario?
- …While “Larson” is indeed a name (actually a surname), the name of Larson from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door also happens to be a pun on “larceny,” a term for “theft”?
See you next-a time!
