Opening Statement

Hello, 'Shroom readers! Director Superchao here, with a rather ordinary 'Shroom issue. Not much to report this month...

-KP (talk) has joined the 'Shroom's main team as our new Fading into Obscurity writer! We look forward to a good series from him.

Section of the Month

Turboo here with the February SOTM results. There were 21 votes total; all of the sections voted for ended up placing on the table above, incidentally. Superchao (talk)'s Interview and Paper Yoshi (talk)'s Mario Calendar tied for third, and FunkyK38 (talk)'s Brawl Tactics got second.

The 'Shroom Spotlight

Shroom Spotlight Lakitu.png

Yo-Yo-Yoshi! Welcome to this eggs-traordinary March edition of The 'Shroom Spotlight! For those of you readers out there who don't know what this section is, The 'Shroom Spotlight is a wiki project that aims to improve a selection of bad eggs articles and images on the wiki each month by eggs-posing them in this section and reaching out to the eggs-tended community for help. If you need further eggs-planation, please eggs-plore this page for our mission goals and past goals, there's dozens of 'em!

Anyway, if you'll egg-scuse me, I'm going to drop the egg puns for just a moment while I eggs-hibit my duties as a Spotlight co-manager and review our article focuses from last month. Crack a pity laugh why don't you, it’s eggs-hausting forcing these horrible puns on such a hard-boiled audience.

Fake News

Editorial

Hello, welcome to the Fake News, and happy March 15th! I haven't got much I need to say here today, so I'll keep this pretty quick. Section of the Month was won by both Yoshi876 (talk) and Paper Yoshi (talk), with Obituaries and Ask Paper Yoshi, both achieving 20 votes. Congratulations to both of you!

Fun Stuff

Director's Notes???

By Turboo (talk)

Ignore the fact that I'm not NSM and everything will be alright. Anyway, there was only one section received this month, so there's no SOTM poll. Sad.

February got 40 SOTM votes total, with Word Search and Hiding Koopa tying for second with 12 each and Guess Who getting first with 16. That's really about everything, and congratulations to everyone!

Palette Swap

Director's Notes (FunkyK38 (talk))

Hello, hello, hello all! Welcome to this month’s issue of Palette Swap! I am very happy to announce that we have a new writer on staff with us: Yoshi876 (talk)! He will be writing monthy sections of What’s On the Box, the first of which you can check out below! Read it and give him a warm welcome! As always, we are always looking for new writers to add to the staff! If you’re interested or want to know more, be sure to drop me a PM on the forums! Without further ado, bring forth the art!

Pipe Plaza

Director's Notes (Paper Yoshi (talk))

And it's the "next month" already!! Welcome to the March Issue of Pipe Plaza, everyone!

Once again, there is no news for this month, so it's time for...

Section of the Month!

Forget what I said about having no news for you, because last month's Section of the Month poll marked a first in the Pipe Plaza team. It got a total of 8 votes (be sure to vote in this issue's poll!), which were exactly divided between two sections.

The February Sections of the Month, with 4 votes each (50% of the total), are...

Director's Notes

Palkia47 (talk)

Hi.

I’m tired.

Goodnight.

February Section of the Month

Congrats to NSM, who was the only one to send in a section last month… so his Movie Reviews section edged out his Smash Time section!

Interview

Superchao

Hello, 'Shroom readers! This month I'm interviewing one of the very few bureaucrats in wiki history, and a forum mod.

That's right, it's Glowsquid! Read on to find out what he said.

Interview

Superchao: Hello, 'Shroom readers! This month I'm interviewing forum mod and bureaucrat, Glowsquid!
Glowsquid: Greetings commoners. My name is Glowsquid and I aim to make the Super Mario Wiki the best Rise of the Robots-information source possible.

Brawl Tactics

Timmy

What is up Brawlers?! Timmy here, writing his fifth article of Brawl Tactics!

So, this time I'm covering a stage, again. What stage? It will be on Yoshi's Island (the Brawl version), since Yoshi's New Island is releasing soon!

This stage originates from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It's a fairly simple stage with 2 main platforms, where the top platform tilts from time to time. Occasionally, a Support Ghost platform will pop up on either the left or the right side of the stage, which can actually save someone who's recovering if they're lucky! There are also Fly Guys here who will drop off some Food if you have items on and you hit them. You cannot go under the stage, so don't try gliding with Pit or Meta Knight; it won't work.

Upcoming Games

Paper Yoshi

Hello, and welcome to the March Issue of Upcoming Games!! I've come back to tell you a little more about what Nintendo has in store for us Mario fans, following my absence from the previous issue, so let's get started!

As was the case in January, I'll be covering only one Nintendo Direct conference – the first one for 2014 – in this issue, which was broadcast worldwide on February 13th.

Nintendo Direct 02.13.2014

The first Mario game shown by President of Nintendo Satoru Iwata was Mario Golf: World Tour. He presented an overview of the new single-player mode, Castle Club, as well as ways to customize your Mii character with items such as clubs or balls, similarly to Mario's previous sporting installment, Mario Tennis Open. The game is scheduled to be released in Japan on May 1st; in North America and Europe on May 2nd; and in Australia on May 3rd.

A History of Video Games

Chuck Ballymoo

I'm Chuck Ballymoo, I'm the writer for History of Video Games. As you know, the recent fiasco over Microsoft's Xbox One originally planning to block used and rented games sparked worldwide controversy. Microsoft's greed knows no satiety. That is right, there was a pre-owned fee originally planned. That means there was a mandatory game installation required for all games. That means if you were to lend a game to a friend, your friend was SOL. A paywall would have popped up and your friend would have had to buy the game anew.

But as the wise old man once said, evil prevails when good people do nothing. And that is why they did NOT prevail.

Fading Into Obscurity

KP

Hello! I'm KP, and welcome to Fading into Obscurity!

Today, we will look at one of the long forgotten characters of the Mario series: Fryguy! Fryguy first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 2, also known as Yume Kojo: Doki Doki Panic in Japan. Here, he was a boss, appearing at the end of World four. In its sequel, BS Super Mario USA, Fryguy returns once again as the boss of the snow world and his fighting style remains unchanged, except for a few minor differences here and there.

He also made an appearance in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, this time working for King Koopa. However, he did not appear as much as some other characters from Super Mario Bros. 2 in the series, leaving many of his fans disappointed. In the Nintendo Comics System, a species also named Fryguy appeared, however it was discovered that these Fryguys are actually Toads which became engulfed in lava.
