The Trio Attack Hammer is a giant red and gold cardboard hammer that Paper Mario obtains in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. It has gold stars on the ends, and the color scheme makes it loosely resemble the Ultra Hammer from the Paper Mario series. The Trio Attack Hammer is created by the Paper Toads rescued in Peach's Castle, and Delivery Toad brings it to Mario, Luigi, and Paper Mario sometime after saving all of the Paper Toads in Paper Toad Rescue while exploring Sunbeam Plains. It initially appears as a red cardboard box with a gold star on two sides, but grows and folds out to its full size and normal shape when wielded. Obtaining it unlocks Trio Attacks, which by default includes Trio Racquet.

In battle, the Command Block for Trio Attack depicts the Trio Attack Hammer. Paper Mario starts each Trio Attack by taking out the hammer. He, Mario, and Luigi hold the handle and slam it against all the enemies, paperizing them. This transitions into the Trio Attack proper, and after the attack ends the enemies return to normal. There are two different animations for starting a Trio Attack. In the first, the hammer rises high into the air, then grows to full size, then the head folds out to normal hammer proportions, next the red necks folds out onto the hammer, and after that the white handle extends out of the head. Finally, it drops near the ground so the trio can grab it to attack. The other animation is overall faster, having the hammer not go as high while forming the necks and handle in a single step.

During the final battle against Shiny RoboBowser, the Bowsers get their own version of the Trio Attack Hammer, using it against the trio as long as the armor's helmet is not destroyed (and if Paper Mario tries to use a Trio Attack under the same condition).
