Fix-It Felix Jr., or simply Felix, is a repairman featured in the Wreck-It Ralph franchise. He is the main protagonist of the 1982 arcade game Fix-It Felix Jr. Felix has to use his golden Magic Hammer to repair the windows of Niceland while dodging Wreck-It Ralph's bricks.
History
Background
As explained by Wreck-It Ralph and the song "Wreck It, Wreck-It Ralph," Felix's Magic Hammer was received from his father.
Wreck-It Ralph
In Wreck-It Ralph, Felix first appears in the arcade cabinet of his game, during Wreck-It Ralph's narration at the Bad-Anon meeting. He attends the 30th-anniversary celebration of his game in Niceland's penthouse. When Ralph arrives at the party, Felix is persuaded by the Nicelanders to exclude him, much to his bewilderment. When an argument starts between Ralph and Gene, about Ralph's role as the game's antagonist, Felix tries to calm them down, but fails.
The next day, when Ralph is absent during gameplay, resulting in the game being marked as out of order, Felix is visited by Q*Bert, who tells him that Ralph has "gone Turbo." Felix then goes to Hero's Duty, a game Ralph has went into, where he is seized by Sergeant Calhoun. Felix takes notice of Calhoun's beauty, and tells her about Ralph. They then witness Ralph and a Cy-Bug in a runaway escape pod. Later, Felix and Calhoun go to Game Central Station to inspect Sugar Rush.
Felix and Calhoun traverse the landscape of Sugar Rush, where the former tells her about the story of Turbo. They are then inadvertently trapped in Nesquik-sand, but Felix rounds up the Laffy Taffy vines to rescue them. Some time later, they ride the escape pod, where Felix unknowingly reminds Calhoun of her late fiance by calling her "one dynamite gal," causing her to abandon him.
Saddened, Felix goes to King Candy's Castle to ask for Ralph's whereabouts, where he is imprisoned in the Fungeon by Sour Bill who believes that he is Ralph's accomplice. Ralph finds Felix in the Fungeon in order for him to repair Vanellope's broken kart, but Felix reprimands him for the things that the former did. When Ralph apologizes to him, Felix offers to repair the kart. They both watch the Random Roster Race together, which is then invaded by Cy-Bugs. Felix is later seen protecting Vanellope from Cy-Bugs. After Ralph successfully eliminates the Cy-Bugs, Felix and Calhoun have their first kiss.
In the epilogue, Felix helps Ralph build East Niceland in Fix-It Felix Jr. He and Calhoun have their wedding ceremony at a church in Hero's Duty.
Fix-It Felix Jr.
Felix is the playable character in the replica of Fix-It Felix Jr. He appears with his Magic Hammer when the Nicelanders call for him when their building is being wrecked by Wreck-It Ralph. Felix has to repair all the windows of one section of Niceland before going to the next. He also has to dodge falling bricks, and in the later levels, ducks and brick piles. If Felix collides with any of these obstacles, he will fall down from the building. Felix will die and hold a white tulip when all of his lives have been depleted.
If Felix touches a pie, he will consume it; making his cap and hammer flash in different colors, allowing for temporary invincibility. When all the two sections of each level are completed, Felix is rewarded a medal, a pie, and a kiss; while Ralph gets thrown down by the Nicelanders into a mud puddle.
The Wrecking Party
The comic The Wrecking Party in the winter 2012 issue of Disney Comic Zone, features Felix throwing a Wrecking Party for Ralph. He and the Nicelanders pop out of Ralph's dump, surprising the latter. Felix has constructed a brick wall for Ralph and Gene to wreck. Later, Felix and Ralph eat cake together, celebrating the party's success. Sergeant Calhoun then arrives at the dump to break the wall, with Felix remarking at her beauty.
Power Outage!
In the story Power Outage! in Disney's Bedtime Favorites, a blackout occurs in Game Central Station, locking the characters out of their games. Felix offers to restore the power, working overnight. The next day, he has repaired the outage, allowing the video game characters to return to their games.
Ralph Breaks the Internet
Felix has a minor role in Ralph Breaks the Internet. He is first seen witnessing the arrival of a new "game," which is revealed to be "Wi-Fi." At his and Calhoun's apartment, they offer to adopt the Sugar Rush racers, who have their game unplugged due to a malfunctioning steering wheel. However, the racers make a mess of the apartment. Later, a stressed Felix arrives at Tapper, where he is offered a root beer by Ralph. When gulping down his beer, he utters "eeeo-boy," causing Ralph to believe he needs to go to eBay to fix Sugar Rush. In the end, Felix and Calhoun have reformed the Sugar Rush racers to the point that they are polite to each other.
Click Start: A Select-Your-Story Adventure
In the comic gamebook Click Start: A Select-Your-Story Adventure, Felix is featured in a subplot, "Wanted: Temporary Bad Guy," set between the events of Ralph Breaks the Internet. He and Gene recruit game characters to cover for Ralph while he is out adventuring in the internet. However, when Felix mentions the roles that Ralph takes, all but Zombie, Sour Bill, Calhoun, and Gene, leave. Felix is left in vain to audition Zombie, Sour Bill, and Calhoun. Finally, Felix claims that Gene has passed the audition, since the latter has thrown a fit over the video game being unplugged.
Once Upon a Studio
Felix makes a brief appearance in the short film Once Upon a Studio, where he repairs Goofy's camera with his Magic Hammer. He is later seen with the crowd, singing the final lyrics of "When You Wish Upon a Star."
General information
Physical description
Felix is a young, small, and thin man who wears blue clothing, in contrast to Wreck-It Ralph's red. He has light-brown eyebrows and hair, light-blue eyes, a large, pink nose, and a round, fair-skinned face with rosy cheeks. Felix's hairstyle, comprising of short hair with a fringe combed over to the left, resembles his voice actor, Jack McBrayer. His face was touched up slightly in Ralph Breaks the Internet, as a result of the animators rebuilding his model from scratch.
Usually, Felix's clothing consists of a dark-blue cap with gold initials "FF", a white short-sleeved undershirt, a light-blue short-sleeved shirt which has two pockets and three buttons, denim pants with rolled-up legs, yellow gloves, and light-brown work boots with light-yellow soles (described as "steel-toed shoes" by the song "Wreck It, Wreck-It Ralph"). He also has a tool belt which carries his golden Magic Hammer. In artwork from The Art of Ralph Breaks the Internet, he is revealed to wear plain white socks under his boots. During the anniversary celebration, he wears a long-sleeved, wide-collared shirt layered with a dark-blue waistcoat, dark-blue bell-bottoms, a white belt, dress gloves, and boots. In his and Calhoun's wedding, he wears a black cap and tuxedo.
Powers and abilities
Felix has a Magic Hammer which can repair objects instantly, even strengthen them. However, it is also shown that if an object is larger, it may need more hits for the hammer to restore it. The Magic Hammer also applies to injuries, as shown when Felix uses it to revert his bruises when slapped by Calhoun. It can also transform Cy-Bugs into their egg form, as shown in the video game. Felix also has enhanced jumping abilities; he can jump higher than usual, and in the tie-in video game, he can even double jump. He also has the ability to communicate in Q*Bertese, although he claims his to be "a little rusty."
