Relatives

Red Crabbers[1][2] are enemies in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are red-colored Crabbers that, unlike Blue Crabbers, are more numerous and aggressive towards the player character. They are commonly encountered in sand galaxies, wandering around, and upon noticing Mario (or Luigi), they will move in a zigzag pattern toward him. They can be defeated by spinning at their rear. Like most enemies in both games, if a Red Crabber successfully lands a hit, it will laugh at the player character.

History

Super Mario Galaxy

Red Crabbers first appear in Super Mario Galaxy and reappear in its Nintendo Switch port. They appear in groups with always a Blue Crabber among them.

Red Crabbers appear in the following list of galaxies and missions. If no mission is stated, Crabbers appear during all missions:

Red Crabbers reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and its Nintendo Switch port alongside Blue Crabbers. Yoshi can lick up Red Crabbers to spit out their big pincer in the same manner as a Spiny Egg or Bullet Bill. The pincer acts as a boomerang, as it flies out for some distance, then returns. The pincers are unable to destroy glass cases. If the pincer hits a wall or flies for long enough, it will be destroyed.

Red Crabbers appear in the first two missions of Starshine Beach Galaxy, where they can be found mainly on the Tropical Cloud Tower Planet as common enemies. After the player enters in the Teleporter near the cabin at the start of the planet, they will be teleported to a bonus planet inhabited by Crabbers, and if Mario defeats them all within the time limit, he gets three 1-Up Mushrooms. They also appear in all missions of Battle Belt Galaxy, where they have a dedicated planet in which the player must defeat all of them to progress. And the Prankster Comet mission of Boulder Bowl Galaxy, named "Rolling Crabber Romp"; as the planet this is on is made of hollow metal, they cannot burrow here.
