RE: The 'Shroom[edit]
Hello, RabbidYoshi! It's wonderful to see you've taken in interest in The 'Shroom. You can absolutely sign up for the paper! I assume you've read the sign up page? If you follow the instructions in that little red box at the top, we can have you writing for the paper here in just a week or two.
It sounds like you're not sure how to write a demo section, is that right? It's simpler than it sounds. All you need to do is open any text editor - Notepad, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or any similar text editors - and write your section in there. What we're looking for is a sample of what you want to write. It will actually become your first section in the paper, so just write it the same way you plan to write the rest of your section.
For the most part, you can write it like you would a story or any kind of paper you might work on, but you do need to be aware of some markup used on the wiki. You'll want to be able to use images in your section and maybe even to bold or italicize things. We have information on that in our Manual of Style, so make sure you give that a read. You can test your coding in the sandbox, but please make sure you use the "preview" button, not the "save changes" button. You want to keep your section a surprise!
And if you have any questions along the way, or want someone to look over your demo section before you send in an application, don't hesitate to ask me or any other member of the staff. We're here to help!
Once you have your demo written, we'll talk about the best way for you to send in an application, either on the forum or through some other means. Hooded Pitohui (talk) 16:14, May 20, 2021 (EDT)
- Your demo looks great! Thanks for sending it. In the future, though, please send your sections in an email to mwshroom@gmail.com instead of posting a public link. It will keep your section between you and the staff until the issue comes out.
- You're almost good to go. Could you do me one more favor? Would you please tell me if you want to write this monthly or bi-monthly. Once I know that, I'll pass your application along to the staff, and we'll take one week to review it. Afterwards, we'll reach back out to you. Hooded Pitohui (talk) 10:13, May 21, 2021 (EDT)
- It's quite alright! It's your first time, after all. Okay! Thanks for the info. I will pass your application along, and you can expect to hear back from us on May 29th. Thanks for applying! Hooded Pitohui (talk) 10:21, May 21, 2021 (EDT)
Accepted[edit]
Hello there, RabbidYoshi2! I have good news for you today! Aside from some minor editing that your Team Director, Doomhiker, will do, your section looked great and it has been accepted! The demo section you turned in will appear in Fake News in issue 171 (coming out June 19th), and, after that, Doomhiker will send you monthly reminders which will include deadlines that you'll send in your sections by. If you have any questions, please let me know. Welcome to The 'Shroom! Hooded Pitohui (talk) 08:51, May 29, 2021 (EDT)
Let's-a go Around the World[edit]
Hey, I just wanted to say I really enjoyed your new 'Shroom section! I think it's a creative idea with a lot of potential. As for suggestions, how about Flipside from Super Paper Mario? -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 11:35, June 23, 2021 (EDT)
Hi. Nice job giting in the shroom. How abut new donk city for your next one? Bubbasour11
Ok, so it seems you've made a `Shroom section called Lets-a-go Around the World, and I was thinking, "wouldn't it be funny if some random dude went to Flipside for a vacation, only to end up discovering Flopside?" Basically, I think it would be funny for Flipside to be your next travel location. Kirbyo (talk) 17:32, July 7, 2021 (EDT)
RE: How do I reach out to you?[edit]
Hello, RabbidYoshi2! To contact me on the Mario Boards, first, you'll need to go to the website and register for an account. Once you've made your account, go to my profile and click "start conversation." It will open up a private message that you can send me, and we can use that as a place to talk. Friend request[edit]
Hey RabbidYoshi2 do you want to be frends? Here is my userbox if you do. (I can make a userbox for you to give to people who have friend requests or you can do it. You do not have a userbox tower and that is OK but if you want one look here:https://www.mariowiki.com/MarioWiki:Userboxes) Bubbasour11 |-

If you intend to use this as a personal image, please make sure to use it on your userpage within 24 hours of the upload date, otherwise it will be deleted. Mario JC 21:05, July 30, 2021 (EDT)
I'm using it for The 'Shroom. Any alternate methods are welcome though. - RabbidYoshi2
- It's not being used at the moment, and I don't believe images are uploaded until the issue is released. If it's not currently being used on any page, then it will have to be deleted. Mario JC 06:09, August 1, 2021 (EDT)
- Hey there. I happened to take a peek at your talk page and noticed this. For the record, you can use any external means you would like (Imgur, Discord, a forum attachment in a PM, etc.) to host images that aren't on the wiki externally and to send them in with your section. The staff will take care of uploading any external images when the issue releases, and we will mark them as 'Shroom images at that point. Hope this helps for the future! RE: External Images[edit]
Of course! It's simpler than you might expect, actually. When you want to include external images in your section, simply put the appropriate coding in your article where you want the image to appear, as if it were already on the wiki. You can choose whatever filename you would like, though I suggest something clear and concise, like, for example, [[File:IChooseYou174-1.png|right|200px|thumb|caption]]
Then, when you send in your section, you can send links to the external images you want to use, and label them. You might, for example, upload an image to Imgur and send that link in at the bottom of your message. For your specific section, you might be able to link to images on Bulbapedia. If you put the coding in, and give us labeled links, we'll make sure your images get in on release day.
Oh, and if you're using the preview function to test how your articles look, you can always temporarily put in an image that already exists on the wiki, just to see how it looks, and then change to the image you actually want to use before you send it in.
I hope that helps! Let me know if I need to clairfy something further. Hooded Pitohui (talk) 08:51, August 23, 2021 (EDT)
Moving files / categories[edit]
After moving a file, make sure to mark the old file's name for deletion with {{delete}} in case admins miss them.
Also, image category links should be formatted as [[Category:Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope images]]
(square brackets, "Category:" prefix, and "images" at the end), not {{Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope}}
. Mario JC 03:37, October 30, 2022 (EDT)
