World 2-4 is the fourth level of World 2 in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It is unlocked via completion of World 2-Tower. Completing this level through the normal goal unlocks World 2-5 and World 2-6, while finding the hidden goal unlocks a Warp Pipe shortcut to World 2-Castle.

Layout[edit]

Every few seconds, a strong wind blows in the level, which causes coins to blow in, affects ladders throughout the level, and forces the player to the right, though the player character is not moved if they are crouching.

The player starts in an area with a structure above, with the ? Block above it containing a power-up that can be reached by climbing the ladder. After another structure is a collection of bricks with a Koopa Troopa that can be used to break them and the ? Blocks underneath. After the red Warp Pipe, the player has to use the wind to jump over the ledge, unless they have a propeller suit. Climbing up another ladder, the player can get over a structure that leads into a group of bricks, followed by another platform above that has a power-up in a ? Block. After the red pipe ahead are two bricks, with the one closest to the red pipe containing a 1-Up Mushroom. Across the gap is the midway point.

Across the next gap is a hill of Koopa Troopas, with a barrel just before it the player can use to defeat them. In the top ? Block afterward is a power-up, followed by a ladder to reach the top of a long platform. Beyond this long platform are two jagged platforms with Spike Tops walking along them. After a gap is a hill of Koopa Troopas before the Warp Pipe leading to the pole.

Star Coins[edit]

  • Star Coin 1: On the platform not long after the area with the first POW Block, there are three Invisible Blocks in the shape of "^", and the one on top contains a Beanstalk. This leads to an area with several more Invisible Blocks, along with two ? Blocks containing Beanstalks. Mario and co. should find openings in the rows of Invisible Blocks and jump to the first Star Coin which is floating high in the air.
  • Star Coin 2: A Propeller Suit is required for this one. To the right of the midway point, below normal ground, is a green Warp Pipe. This Pipe leads to an area with several coins, and the second Star Coin. Mario and co. should fall to the Star Coin then activate the Propeller Suit to fly to safety before falling.
  • Star Coin 3: A Propeller Suit is required for this one also. To the right of the Pipe that leads from the area with the second Star Coin, Mario and co. should wait for the Wind to blow, dash, jump, then activate the Propeller Suit to fly up to the third Star Coin which is floating below a platform with a brick and a ? Block.

Hidden goal[edit]

This hidden goal requires a Propeller Suit. After the third Star Coin, there are two platforms with one Spike Top each. When the wind begins to blow, the player must perform a running double jump and fly up to the enclosed area with a red pipe. Alternatively, Mario can jump from the solid ground below said enclosed area to the left just as the wind begins to blow, and wall-kick up the wall of the enclosed area as the wind blows at full force. This goal leads to a warp pipe in the World Map, which leads directly to World 2-Castle.

Trivia[edit]

  • Many of the stone structures found after the midway point appear to resemble many-legged beasts or snakes. The coin arrangement found in the sub area containing the second Star Coin also resembles a Fire Flower.
