Bombites are sentient bomb enemies that appear only in the Key Cavern from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. They appear to be based on Bob-ombs. As indicated by their coloration in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, they come in two color variants.

Red variants of Bombites are the most common one. These Bombites can be found in small groups, typically in enclosed or tight spaces and move slowly. However, if struck with the Master Sword, they ignite their fuse and run about in a frenzy while bouncing off walls until they later explode. When they are about to explode, they will begin to flash. They can be tricky to avoid, especially in narrow areas, and thus can be dangerous enemies. Link can use his Hylian Shield to block them from running into him; it cannot protect him from their later explosion, however. As a result, the blast will still hurt Link even when blocked by the shield.

The second variety is green and they are found in only one room in a group of three. These Bombites behave differently from the red ones; once they are struck, they will grin and closely follow Link. They will later explode, as indicated by their countdown on their bodies, and attempt to catch Link in the resulting blast.

Link's bombs will defeat both variants of Bombites permanently.
