Barter just so happens to be in possession of a No. 6 Wrench. Although Dixie and Kiddy Kong have no use for a wrench themselves, Björn of Razor Ridge reveals that he lost his No. 6 Wrench, and asks the Kongs for their assistance in finding it. While Barter is reluctant in parting with the No. 6 Wrench, the Kongs can pry it away from him by purchasing the Mirror that Bazaar sells for fifty Bear Coins, and trading it to Barter in exchange for the wrench.
Barter's original appearance had discrepancies between his artwork and in-game appearance. His artwork shows him in a business attire, including a black hat, leather shoes, pants, and a purple suit. He also has a small mustache. In the game, Barter's mustache was made bigger, and his shirt was changed to striped and white, with a striped green and yellow tie. In the Game Boy Advance version, Barter wears a larger red hat, red pants with a black belt, and blue straps connecting to his belt. He also appears to wear a white, sleeveless shirt.

Baffle also needs the Mirror to help him solve a puzzle, which leads the way to a Banana Bird Cave. Should the Kongs wish to purchase back the Mirror from Barter, they have to pay him ten Bear Coins for it.

Trivia
*In the original Super Nintendo Entertainment System version of the game, Barter's swap shop appears to be mirrored while he is in possession of the Mirror. This does not happen in the Game Boy Advance remake.
*He's the only Bear Brother to have a sprite change, where he looks sloppy before getting the mirror and after getting rid of it and looks neater when in possession of the mirror.  The change is explained by Barter that it was because he fell into the lake.
