Power Taps are powerful combat accessories in Mario & Luigi: Brothership used by the Mario Bros. and certain powerful enemies on rare occasions. Five in total are found throughout the game.

Uses[edit]

Powerless by themselves, their main use is to harness the effect of Battle Plugs by plugging them in the Power Taps, as Battle Plugs only consume charges and take effect when plugged in. The number of Power Taps on hand subsequently signifies the amount of Battle Plugs that the player can use at the same time.

History[edit]

A pair of Power Taps is first obtained on Desolatt Island, after Ten's defeat prompted him to hastily retreat, dropping them along with a Kaboom Attack and a Surprise Ironball Battle Plugs carelessly. His attempt to retrieve them then turns into an impromptu trial run in a battle against Ten, where the Mario Bros. use the Power Plugs' abilities against him, eventually causing him to flee for good.

Extra Power Taps are found throughout the story. The third is found upon defeating Sharpcask in the second Great Lighthouse; the fourth is dropped from Pipegunk with its defeat in the third Great Lighthouse; and the fifth and final one is found and held onto by Luigi after the defeat of Glohm Bowser, but only revealed after the brothers' reunion on Conductor Island. Upon finding a new Power Tap, the extension is merged with the set in possession of the Bros. and increase the capacity of equipped Battle Plugs by 1, to the maximum of 5.
